Nowadays Commissioner Gordon would've been able to reach Batman by a laptop and see him on screen as long as it ain't in Bruce's study that is Lol 😂 he would see the background.

I love how little effort Bruce puts in keeping his identity secret. He's just got his bat phone sitting out in plain view and has his butler answer it.

@@paradoxzee6834 ONCE (and only once, as I recall) did he say (when Aunt Harriet was in the room), something along the lines of, "a red-hot tip for you in the study, sir", and I THINK he also mentioned a phone call once...something like, "There is a phone call for you, Sir..." "Oh, thank you, Alfred" "A very IMPORTANT call, Sir..." "Yes, Alfred, thank you..." "In the STUDY, SIR...", and all of the sudden, Bruce's face lit up like, "Ohhhh, so THAT's what you meant!!"

I wish I had a pole to get to my garage. That would be so damn awesome.

LOL I always wanted to have my own real-life batpoles. All the time I'd save sliding up and down, coming out with the required change of clothes in a heartbeat. Also, it'd be hilarious if Bruce and Dick slid down the wrong poles. Imagine Adam West wearing Burt Ward's Robin suit, and Ward wearing West's Batsuit.

growing up watching batman was so cool, couldn't wait to see part 2 of a cliff hanging episode , i will forever remember the red blinking phones, bruce wayne's study and the batpoles headed straight down to the amazing batcave , i just love that show , r.i.p. to all the actors in that show that have passed on now

I met Adam West and Burt Ward at the 1975 Cincinnati Cavalcade of Customs. They each shook my 6 year old hand and autographed their pics and told me to keep fighting crime. KAPLOOEY!!

I can understand Alfred answering the bat-phone..the voice might be muffled on the phones. There's a message on the wall saying that these BATPOLES are the entrance to the BATCAVE..and that the poles have signs, identifying Bruce and Dick.. Yet no one who broke into Wayne Manor has read the writing on the wall. Next thing you'll tell me is that Aunt Harriet is unaware that the house is directly ontop of the atomic reactor of the batcave.

@@DIESEL0759 But that's not what happened in the show. The only explanation would be that there may have been a changing room at midlevel between the study and the Batcave. They likely slid down, stopped halfway, changed to their costumes, then slid down the rest of the way to the cave.

@@startounz that's exactly what I thought. They stopped halfway down the bat poles and changed there clothes during the commercial and then slid down the rest of the way into the bat cave. I knew that the instant costume changer was totally phony.

I just realized this, but in the movie “Joker,” when Arthur speaks with Bruce from his treehouse, Bruce slides down the fire pole to go talk to Arthur closer at the gate - a callback to the Batpoles

The most interesting seminar was one I attended at Sherman Oaks Experimental College in 1980....Set Designer for BATMAN....Dianne Wager. She was the one who came up with the idea of firepoles for the decent into the Batcave....and the controversy they caused between her....Dozier...and Adam West... The set design team needed to show a way that would give viewers a way to show how Bruce and Dick became the Dynamic Duo...something that would be as impressive as the Superman TV series showed Clark.Kent going in the Supply Room, and whip off his hat and glasses to become The Man Of Steel. They reviewed the old Columbia Batman serials...and felt changing clothes in the Batmobile would be anticlimactic. Most of the set crew were old school guys...many from NYC. To them, their local heroes were cops, firemen, and soldiers. At that time, most NYC fire stations were 2 story...with firepoles. Some even had family members as firemen...and would witness them coming down the poles decked out in firegear...their "super hero" gear. This is what they all decided would be the way for the actors to transition from real ID to superhero. The team ended up getting fire poles from the LAFD when they were decommissioning older 2 story fire stations to modern 1 story ones like Compton's Station 54 which was the setting of "Emergency". The only problem was...Adam West wanted a fatter fire pole....so they had to construct one from old houses being demolished that had basement support posts that were thicker than the standard fire pole. That became Adam's pole, while Dick's pole was a standard fire pole.

I enjoyed watching Batman and I always will. To the Batpoles was one of my favorite quotes. The other was Hold tight, Batman turn before Batman would pull the red lever to do a quick 180 plus the parachutes. When I am out with my wife if I have to make a hard turn I tell her hold tight, Bat turn. It drives her crazy. She doesn't like Batman but knows that I do.

Seems Alfred is using a different mannerism when answering the Batphone, although we do know that there is no voice-disguiser, as Batman and Bruce Wayne were both able to use the same phone to speak with Gordon at the same time.

The ONLY Time you Got to see someone go From a Top Looking Down and Coming Back up is when the Joker Finds The Bat Poles and says a secret Passage. It shows Him go down and then Back..

I remember once when Bruce and Dick were out someplace and a pen 🖊️ in Bruce's jacket flashed. He said that signal means commissioner Gordon is trying to reach me. Dick said that we better hurry home and Bruce said,"No we'll change in the limousine in our spare bat costumes. They got into the back of the limo, drew the curtains and changed. I wonder how they changed there clothes in such cramped quarters.

The Batpoles are a great device. When they slide down them from Wayne Manor the become Batman and Robin. When the go up the Batpoles from the Batcave they become Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson.

The position of Wayne's manor in relationship to the batcave is utterly bonkers. Above, Bruce's pole is to the right of the viewer, and Bruce runs to it away from the camera. In the cave, Batman's pole is also to the right of the viewer, and Batman runs from it towards the camera. That means that the Shakespeare bust is more or less directly above the Batmobile, and the whole room, moving away from the poles, overlooks the cave's entrance/exit, i. e. the desert! But there's no indication that Bruce's dispatch has a view to the wilderness! Who cares? The show is a gas!

I love how they always run there so awkwardly, because the distance is so short and the risk of running into each other in the narrow secret passage is so high. I bet it happened multiple times and instantly apologizing fits this Batman rather well
