They love each other, but the circumstances prevented them to be together. First of all, yingluo went into the forbidden city to avenge her sister’s death. She undergo lots of hardship to achieve her goals and didn’t expect to fall in love. Then the emperor fell in love with her, but both she and Fuheng were not afraid any grave consequences to be together. The emperor punished yingluo to force Fuheng to give up because he knew Fuheng is not afraid of dying but cares too much for yingluo. Yingluo left the forbidden city after the death of the empress, but plot to return and accept the emperor when she knew the empress death was a conspiracy. She also hasn’t forgotten about the death of her sister, who was more like a mother to her after her mother died in giving birth to her and every other family members treated her coldly. She needed the power of the emperor to achieve her vengeance. In the end, she managed to get revenge for her sister and the empress. She also has some feelings for the emperor after so many years of kindness and affection the emperor given to her although in peculiar and quirky ways.
