To Mount Hermon - Son of the Living God | Episode Six | Along the Road

Jesus took the disciples to the base of Mount Hermon to ask and answer the question, “Who do people say that I am?” Only when we realize how much this part of the Holy Land had struggled to understand who God was, will we appreciate Peter’s confession and Jesus’s confirmation of it using local geography.
ABOUT THE SERIES
While walking the roads of the Holy Land, Jesus often taught His followers lessons that would come down to us through God’s Word. But from our perspective-in our very different time and place-many of the Lord’s allusions to the surrounding landscape have been lost. In this seven-episode series, Dr. John (Jack) Beck highlights how the land provided talking points both to the original disciples and to us today. Enhance your own spiritual journey with this series.
ABOUT YOUR HOST
Dr. John (Jack) A. Beck is a scholar, educator, and writer with extensive experience in biblical geography. He has a PhD in theology and Old Testament from Trinity International University and is an adjunct faculty member at Jerusalem University College in Israel. His passion is to make the wisdom of the Bible understandable to Christians, and he has been writing on the topic of biblical geography for more than sixteen years, both within and outside of the Middle East.

I thought it was amazing too! Imagine what it would’ve been like 2,000 years ago when the Son of God declared it near the thriving den of demons! It would’ve sent shock waves through their realm. He was officially putting them on notice!

If Jesus said He will build His church on that Rock on Mount Hermon which church has been built there till today? Learn a little greek to see what is the correct meaning of a rock and a stone in greek then explore the greek text to put you in the picture of who Jesus refered to as a Rock and who He refered to as a stone two different greek words Petra and Petros are used one for Lord Jesus Christ Himself and one for Peter and secondly, Jesus did not say some Empires will build His Church, as some claim, Peter is the rock, this church building was built by Roman Empire , read carefully Jesus Christ said ("I will build My Church," (on this Rock ( On Jesus Himself - Petra -in Greek means Rock (fem.) And not on Peter - means Petros--greek masc .) Jesus does not say (upon you Peter) Yes Jesus said ( on this rock refering to Himself) understand this, read the Biblical texts properly, Bible refers to a Rock (Exodus 17:3-4 )( Lord Jesus as the Rock in the wilderness which Moses struck and water gushed forth,. (" that Rock was Christ"! 1Corinthians 10:4) ask yourself did Peter exist in the wilderness to be called a Rock ? Who was that Rock( Bible speaks) in the wilderness ? It was God Himself In the form of a Rock ( it was the First Trinity of God,) Moses was told to speak to it, but He struck it and God was not pleased with Moses He had disobeyed God's Word because if the Israelites complaints against Him and angrily struck the Rock I stead of speaking to It, further Bible says God did not allow Moses to enter the promised land of (milk and Honey) but he saw it from afar before He died, that was because He disobeyed God. BIBLE says (the Church Jesus Christ is building is STILL being built, on the Rock or some translations say (cornerstone) I e, Jesus Christ, Himself, and the Apostles are the foundation stones of that building and we the saved are the living stones being added to it, the Church Is Christ's body while on Earth, Church means gathering of saints, it's not a physical stone building, it is a living building not yet ready, but it will be completed by the Time Lord Jesus comes to Earth at the second coming of Jesus Christ) then when He lifts the church up at the Rapture It will be called the Bride of Christ, as it's long train of saved believers will be taken up like the long veil of a bride watched by those on earth (the unsaved souls) till it disappears in the sky, it's not built by sinfull hands, ie, (by human hands, (that's the misunderstanding here) ( it is built by The Lord Jesus Christ Himself, Yes that's the true church of God, the one spiritually born of God by Belief on His Only Son Lord Jesus Christ ) not a physical building mind you, it is built with spiritual beings. (Born again of the Spirit and water ) ( John 3:3-7 ) human beings saved from their sins by God Himself, ( because man cannot forgive sins, only God can ) PLEASE read the BIBLE . The true church of God will be completed when the total and chosen number of souls are saved and added to that True Church and not before it's completed by God please Note, meantime this is Grace period, Lord willing many souls will be saved and added from every worldly religion, to this True Church, and Our Lord will surely come Soon, We're all waiting for Him, (those whom He will come for) to go with Him ( as His bride,The whole church will rise ( Raptured) to Heaven along with Jesus Christ Leading, as the Groom to Our Heavenly Home along with His blood bought saints that is the single bride of Christ (a bride without spot or blemish washed as white as snow by Jesus Christ Himself, although on earth Her sins were red like crimson ) please read ( Isaiah 1:8) .

Thank you for your awe-inspiring message. It's not surprising of Jesus, that He chose to journey all that distance to bring His disciples to this inconceivable realisation. Jesus spoke in parables and painted visual pictures in the minds of the people to better grasp His messages... I can see why He would do no less for such a profound concept... Without your visual aid of this video, the spuritual concept would never have occured to me. I so much appreciate your teachings. God bless!

Yes, Peter nailed it, and a few minutes later he gets called Satan. Wow, that's like me. Faithful and accurate for most of the time, and then one little thing catches my EYE and my flesh is ready to respond, but no! Self control and the power of the Ruach Ha'Kodesh must be yielded to, and He will empower us to resist the temptations of the flesh. Thanks be to God for sending us the Helper, for without which I would have lost my salvation.

Jesus asked that question because mt hermon is where lucifer and the other angels fell to earth when was casted out by God. So the significance is Jesus was laying down authority to the area of the devil and all that tried to stop christ from coming to prophecy. So thats the irony

Ur right bro The right that Jesus mis the creator and he doesn't need man made churches but He Himself is building right now it's still incomplete till all saved souls are added to it and this is the true church of Christ He's building with His precious blood bought saints who believe bon His final sacrifice on the cross who come broken before Him in repentance of their sins asking and receiving forgiveness for Only Jesus can forgive anyone ( not men ) just like Lucifer's pride there are false prophets who have tried to To God's place on Earth even calling themselves Christ on Earth what blasphemy and they ask people to confess their sins to them and claim they have the authority . Gullible fools have been deceived by the devil through these falsehoods . The blind leaders of the blind are leading the fools to their damnation along with them the lay don't know that. Our Hope is only on the Bible . only It can open their eyes to the truth all Glory to God!

Peter got it right, "SON of the living God." He didn't say, "You ARE the living god." Which would be "antichristian" theology according to 1 Jo. 4:1-3 (BBE) He was truly FLESH & BLOOD born of holy spirit, manifesting the Father perfectly, dying to destroy the works of the diabolos, that same SIN-FLESH & BLOOD.
