What C S Lewis said also brings out the importance of learning the Bible and about the Lord’s mercies and grace. You can’t know God without knowing his Word.

When a man standing on the ground looks up at a building, he knows what he sees and is sure of it. He speaks of a building describing windows and height; but when that same man looks down on that same building from a plane his view is entirely different. Even though he’s looking in the same place at the same things what he sees and so his understanding of those things changes. Even though when he speaks of them the words seem very much the same there is fundamental difference in what he’s seen.
