To be or not to be

"There is always a choice - to be present or not. 'To be or not to be.' The Presence is ever present - everything else comes to pass. I've learned to trust this Presence."

I wish I could bottle John up and take his wisdom everywhere. He’s right, when he mentioned all of our endeavors, all of our worries, activities and aspirations eventually end up as water under the bridge. And what are we left with? All we have, all we were ever meant to be, is to be present, in this moment. Feeling the presence of God and being at peace.

@Dan Trix - because he does not even know, he even admits it himself and furthermore says none of us do, how? Well, he eloquently explains We all have different experiences , so in our minds we may think we know, but we really don’t. As he says, it can’t be explained, no one can explain what “love” is, what “truth” is , what silence is and or what God is, and so on. And Furthermore, no one is fully present, and at best, maybe 10% so, imagine if we were all at 15% present. Our minds are constantly being agitated and bombarded by noise, especially nowadays with intrusive gizmos like smart phones and so on. At some point we all will arrive to what we aspire to be, immortal or the next level of immortality. Scientists or Man believes they are smarter than god, and herein after comes the politics of politics, governments and all that other stuff that pits people into clicks and against each other in this complicated world we live in and no one can explain.

There are many lawsuits against federal/ state agencies who illegally caused the debacle of the past 3 years. Although John's narratives are relaxing, he cannot/will not address the real issue of government tyranny toward it's citizenry. He would have to enter the quagmire. So, Seemsayin, those who are health care professionals, also were "Disciplined" by entities who overstepped their bounds. John makes a very good point about the underlying fabric of reality; the substrate upon which everything of the matter of our lives is constructed. There are also parallels to be drawn with quantum theory and the illusionistic nature of reality in religions like Buddhism. He also puts the concept of Salvation into the best context I have heard it placed or described. That is, not as the church preaches it, placing us in unworthiness and in need of mercy and rescue but simply that being saved equates with an abiding focus on the silent presence of God above and beyond the affairs of man. The stages of 'growing up' mentioned near the end of this talk also bring hope and reassurance to the aging process.

Oh contrare Neil...John frequently places us in unworthiness as the miserable and fallen in almost every vid.In fact on the human level his msg is totally devoid of posertivity.Any redemption lying only in the beyond. This is ok late in life I suppose but a young person has to have a more upbeat take on the here and now.Doutless his fans (and he's got a lot more than me)will accuse me of not 'getting it'.But I get what I do and for me it don't add up on any number of points. Some might say 'well just go away then'.But I feel someone has to be the critical voice and I can't find hardly any here

@@randybackgammon890 You are perfectly entitled to criticize. Criticism is healthy. To be clear, I was drawing a distinction between how John interprets salvation and how the church has done in a formal sense. Of course you are right, John advocates humility which I feel is appropriate when we consider how many people evaluate their lives in terms of accumulation of not only possessions but also achievement. You seem to be critical on the basis that John's philosophy lacks excitement for you but that is the way with a contemplative approach. It may appear flat but there are depths to be explored for sure. You might call it an exploration of inner space.

@@alternativevoice2541 Hi again Neil.I would postulate( actually this is viewpoint of Marharishi Maresh yogis' tradition) that reality is both spirit AND matter simultaneously and eternally. Two sides of one God if you will. One never changing and one always changing. Both have to be expirienced and lived or one or other suffers. My criticism of a lot of Johns drift is that it seems to negate the human round as a doomed, vile waste of time and space that actually gets in the way.IDK.But personally I prefer the idea that you meditate(basically a time out from the bustle of the material round)then act posertivley in the world. Over time this alternation brings an expanded awareness that is not lost in action. Its not that one has to be mindful of spirit as that's little more than imagination, but more that over time one becomes it.Well as I say these are not my ideas but they do differ from much of Johns.Which isn't to say I don't like anything he says, far from it.✌️

@@randybackgammon890 I think it's good that people discuss such things, as we are doing here. Yes, I'd agree spirit and matter, or what we call matter are inter-connected and inseparable. I tend to think it's all interwoven in a kind of tapestry and the reality we perceive is just the interface similar to what we see on a computer screen -if I could use that as a metaphor, but that there are workings going on in the mechanism of the metaphorical computer we don't see. When you send an email, all you need are the appropriate icons and your keyboard without being aware of all the digital coding within the computer itself. As for John and his view of existence as miserable, I don't doubt he would acknowledge that life consists of ample proportions of joy and reasons to be joyful.

Have I become my own god, a machine of other people's thoughts that no one thinks. Through self detest, radio and music speak to me like a ghost of euphoria and it feels more real than grass and soil. Fully aware it's just my brain turned upside down, I talk to the dead, while falling deeper and deeper into the claws of madness. I fell beneath a carpet of death, which was my soul. Behind there hid gold of real life. But. The day you fight for your soul, there is no doubt. I lost the fight to my humongous ego. After becoming ashes, then born from fire and ice, my body is now like a car without a motor. I'm not crying anymore. Im no longer a hurt child. I have become a shell of a man. High on weed, a few years ago I cried my eyes out when I got a taste of this silence. No more pain. Yet still alive. Spiritually dead, I walk in silence. Sighing longingly at each individual who shows signs of life. God bless. In God's cleansing. The devil himself dancing in a disco of psychosis. From an idea of self pity and searching, I still sleep in a seed of hope. There's still spirit hidden away, to one day escape the flesh. And the figure that gently sat down beside me in bed was indeed an angel.

Your right John in the stillness we draw closer to Jesus Christ where the total work for salvation he has provided for us on the cross and his resurrection where there’s nothing missing nothing wrong. Could this be heaven brought to by his other gift the Holy Spirit?

Thank you so much for sharing. PLEASE ANSWER - Since starting meditation 2 years ago I've developed this electric feeling (it is powerful for a few seconds) that shakes my inner body - like ecstatic. I can't sustain it, but it's electric! What is that?? Is it's just deep relaxation in the moment or? It comes in waves only if i think towards it...

To be or not to be. Hamlet had cognitive dissonance and couldn’t be present, whether to avenge his father’s murder or not. Brings into question religion and the scripture that says, vengeance is mine says the Lord. Which brings about the question of forgiveness whether it will set us free and leave it in God’s hands. 🤍

John isn’t wise. He looks and sounds like he is, but he isn’t. I read the comments here, and just about everyone takes this lovable old man as a guru, but he isn’t. The sound of his voice and his general vibe is so peaceful, it’s lovely to watch on KZread. I’ve watched many, many hours of his content, I’m a fan, but I would ask anyone to listen to the content and realise it isn’t ‘a life’s worth of wisdom’, it’s vague nonsense. That doesn’t diminish that he is totally loveable and a great fella. I would argue that most of you reading and commenting have a more rounded and realistic view of life than John has. And you are wiser than he is, and could teach him.
