    In Kayfabe, The reason why Roxxi's Voodoo Drop is so effective is becuase she plants her opponent directly on their cocyx, compressing the spine, while she mitigates the direct force of the drop by spreading it out through her ass and legs. It's like taking a back bump while slapping the mat: widen the impact for minimal damage vs landing on say directly on your hip which hurts a lot more.

  • @karrodead

    @karrodead

    I was just about to say something similar. It's like a more devastating version of the Bubba Bomb, similar idea, but both Bubba and his opponent get to mitigate the area of damage to their legs as well, however with Roxxi's only she gets to lessen the damage, but her opponent gets full brunt of it.

    Sting was just another body builder scouted from a Gold's Gym who got fast tracked to the top pretty damn quick. Samoa Joe spent quite a few years cutting his teeth in the indies. Guaranteed Joe got paid $20 to wrestle in high school gyms in front of 100 people FAR more often than Sting ever did.

  • @humdrum229

    @humdrum229

    @@Bubba__Sawyer Disagree. Wrestling after Y2K is far less house shows. SJ I am sure had his fill of crap gym shows but even Indie wrestlers made minimum $50 in the early millennium. And Joe di not know what it was like being on the road every single week. Sting got into the business in 1984, that is all wrestlers knew back then. No weekly TV, no PPV's, just travelling from one small ho-dunk town to another and then back again. Day in and day out. 340? Probably not, but listen to Cornette talk about the 80's and he will tell you that it was pretty darn close to 300 days on the road if not a little over.

    For Mr. OOC: Roxi is in control of the drop. You'll see there's a pause when she sets it up, that's so the person taking the move can't prepare for it. They're in a hammer lock, so the shoulder gets wrenched. They're also in a front face lock, so their neck gets cracked against Roxi's shoulder joint, increasing the impact. Sometimes she releases the head when she drops down, so they acordion in and then slam back into the mat. The key is in how unspecific it is. A piledriver is all on your neck. This targets a little bit of everything, like a car wreck.

    34:26 The difference is that in 2008 social media was in its infancy, and internet usage wasn't ubiquitous and had yet to turn society into hyper-reactionary weirdos. It's not that people may or may not have found it offensive and more that giving out took more effort, and thus the vast majority of people couldn't be bothered. These days getting offended and letting everyone know you are is incredibly easy and consequence free. So we get knee-jerk reactions to *everything.* Every molehill is now a potential mountain, every person is now a potential nutter, and it is incredibly easy finding like minded people to fan the flames thanks to the interwebs. The more internet and reality merged, the lamer both got.

    @Herbert West I think the second half of the Lex Express arc and the 1998 WCW arc were Season 13 of The Simpsons compared to the season 3-9 equivalence of the 2007 TNA arc, Dungeon of Doom and the Attitude Era arcs. Still good but nowhere near as good. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

    I think that cornette, meltzer and the IWC played a big part in TNA dying. It was never as bad as they made it out to be and they were overly critical while at the same time never appreciating the things that they did right

    I campaigned HARD on wrestling forums for TNA back in the day. WWE tards just refused to ever give them a chance. I feel like 2006 was when WWE majorly dipped in quality while TNA was firing on all cylinders, especially when Kurt Angle signed. The fact that Genesis 2006, headlined by the first match between Joe vs Angle only got 60,000 buys, while the atrocious December to Dismember got 90,000 buys 3 months later is such a grave injustice. Wrestling fans really are fickle. RAW had DX vs The Spirit Squad in every main-event for 6 months straight. Smackdown had Fit Finlay in the main-event scene...... TNA had Angle, Joe, Styles, Christian, Abyss, Daniels, Low-Ki, Sabin, Shelly and so many more great talents. _"The production value isn't as good as WWE"_ _"RAW on Monday nights is part of my routine"_ _"WWE entertained me as a kid so I owe them my loyalty for life"_ Fickle.

    I'd say it probably wasn't as big as the part management played into it. For every talented young guy and big star that could still go you had lots of exes that went there because Dixie knew they were (moderately) big names and would pay a lot for them (IE Rikishi, the NAO, Dustin Rhodes) while the ones that did actually carry the company got peanuts and had little reason to stay in (Also, the whole "Vince Russo is here in secret" part). And of course the eternal obsession with WWE that was just nauseating. Then the 2010s come in, Hogan and his guys show up, the cycle repeats and even worse, because now not only they take over, but they also make sure to destroy whatever TNA had built? Samoa Joe? Nation of Violence. AJ? Turns heel and becomes mentored by Ric Flair of all people. Abyss? Might as well change his last two letters to "tch". What's worse, they barely make an effort to get new talent and the one they have slowly slips down their fingers. There was a lot of good things about TNA and WWE was doing so bad in mid-2000s, they had a huge chance and somehow didn't capitalize on it.

It was great to see you guys highlight people I didn't know or did not think much about.
