@@baxterstockman2191 I have transformed ds01 many many times with no problem, not even a scratch. There is a way to have clearances for some parts u just have find it, it’s like solving a puzzle.

I strongly disagree about the scale. When you compare it to that SCALE CHART, it might look that way, but if you compare it to THE ACTUAL CARTOON ITSELF (which is what we should be comparing the figures to), Crimson Wings is scaled perfectly (just like FT Shockwave). While MP52, along with MP29, is too short, both of them in fact. They should both be MP13's size to be cartoon accurate

Sorry, not my intention to go against you really, apologies if it sounded that way. But the reason for caps was general, and not related to you personally: I'm honestly annoyed by the fact that literally everyone, in Fb groups Yt videos and everywhere else, when trying to check "cartoon size accuracy", always compares the figures to that scale chart and noone compares it to the the actual cartoon. Honestly, that just doesn't make sense to me. Because that scale cart actually collides with the cartoon many times. They're not 100% the same. And it is the cartoon actually that matters. And yeah, regarding Hoist inside Huffer situations, well - it's indeed easy to distinguish animation errors from general cartoon scale that was used throughout the cartoon. :)

@@BegUltra the problem is it's not just animation errors. The scale in the show is different from scene to scene and show to show. The scale chart tries to get the cartoon scale as was intended by the artists. That being said, sometimes I ignore the chart and go for what seems reasonable to me. For example combaticons and Constructicons should be bigger than the Stunticons due to their real alt modes.

The seekers should be smaller. They afraid and intimidated of Megatron . Just like how the the seekers are smaller in War for cybertron to Megatron.

Great review and comparison between both models, but I do have to point out two mistakes. When you are comparing the articulation points you say that MP-52 does not have butterfly joints on the shoulders, and that he doesn't have abb-crunch, but he does have both. As matter of fact, the abb crunch can also go back, pass the natural straight pose. I've tried it, it's too tight and didn't want to force it and end with a damaged figure, but I've seen photos showing it on TFW. One can't go wrong in choosing one of these two, because they both look great, and capture the cartoon aesthetic. To me personally TT does it better, but that's all personal preference. Once again, congrats on this video! You have now a new subscriber. 😉

Great video comparison.When I started watching the video I didn't think DS01 could be better than MP 52. Push To 1000!

I will say though thank god MP52 doesn’t have diecast feet on top of the loose ankles 😅. And MP52 has a deep ab crunch and butterflies upward and forward on the arms

I wish I was in the area to be at the con, but I love my FL weather to much! I would have to agree with your final choice of both. I just can't see myself supporting Hasblow for a long time and it's not just the TF lines...any of their collerctor figures are way overpriced for the materials and lack of accessories. Love my DS-01, but I have said that in each comment about F-15 Eagles! 🤣🤣 Push to 1000! Awesome video.

I was like.. wow DS-01 looks great, but he looks too big for MP Megatron and MP Soundwave.. then came the taller IT-01 Megatron KO and Robot Paradise's Acoustic Wave.. problem solved 😉

MP-52 is way too dark, I dislike the color of it.

Takara missed leg day. He just does not look like the bot who tool over as leader so many times to me.

Typical of the Canadian reputation: too polite 😄. Your review was very thorough, genuine, helpful & (possibly 😉) honest, but I must say (based on previous implications), that I was expecting you to exhibit far more *savagery* against MP-52, particularly for the double canopy & alt. mode oddities. Nonetheless, I salute you - this was very helpful & I, for one, appreciate your effort. You did a great job, especially if this was your first review-type video! 👏

@@therustymechanictransforms Yes, I agree with you on that one - I tried putting TE-01 "not" Optimus Prime in my display shelf next to my other Transformers (out of spite for how much MP-44 Optimus Prime was going to cost me) & it just didn't look right - the paint was too dull & flat. In the end, I *had* to buy MP44 so that the colour scheme would match the other bots in the display. I feel this version of Starscream/Thundercrackrer/Skywarp may well be *better* than the officials in terms of engineering, but the official MP figures *consistently* win in the bot mode designs, covered in low gloss, shiny details & always well painted; they're simply *made* to be displayed together. I get the impression that items like DS-Starscream are maybe designed more for play & the appreciation of the engineering?

@@bumbledouche3323 ya I'm having that issue now. I like TE-01 and he looks great next to IT-01 MP-36 KO (he has no paint on the upper torso) and my MP-09 and MP-10 have little to no paint. And were there is paint on TE-01 it looks just like the egg shell plastic. My collection is mostly combiners though with all the main bots and cons mixed in from season 1&2, so I can't justify getting MP-44 and his price. If someone KO's a painted version I might be game for that.

@@ericpoulin7922 Yeah, I hear that! It's especially the case if (for a Masterpiece display), you *have* to rely on multiple different manufacturers to complete your cast! To complete just the season 1 cast, I've had to go unofficial for much of it, with FansToys (Huffer, Brawn, Dinobots, Insecticons, Jetfire), Badcube (Gears), XTB (Trailbreaker; Wincharger), TE (for Mirage), Maketoys (Jazz), ToyWorld (Devastator), KFC (Reflector), Ocular Max (Cliffjumper)... It's a miracle they look even remotely *close* to coming from the same line lol. Has/Tak have nobody but themselves to blame for this - it's been over *20 years* since the MP line began & their piddly stream of the same characters over & over has been frustrating for us all.

where can i find those drawings of megatron and optimus g1 behind you ?

I kinda do the same thing with Bumblebee movie Bumblebee. I keep the official mpm 12 in vehicle mode and have transcraft bumblebee for robot mode. Push to 1000!

Great review, well done. Well thought out and comprehensive. I would just suggest doing comparison with other figures for scale. In your opinion how do they compare to the maketoys figures? I have that set but Im contemplating buying another representation. Debating whether to go takara or DS. I like both but for different reasons. Again good review, especially for us mature MP collectors

I appreciate the honest review so I'll subscribe. I hate to hear that the ds01 has the worst transformation you ever encountered and causes paint chippage, scratches and swappage. I bought ds01 and I'll never transform him. I'll pass on mp52+ as the build quality of Takara isn't good enough for the price IMO.

Takara killed it seekers are short only a real fan would know that

In the comparison just noting you said MP-52 had no ab crunch or waist swivel. It does have an ab crunch though. And it also has the butterfly joint at the shoulders which you said it didn't. This is the first video I've seen of yours great job love the honesty. I almost bought DS-01 but I really couldn't justify two screamers in my collection. Strange that you found the DS-01 more of a real jet. I found the opposite. I liked the MP-52 cockpit better and the nose cone being split up the middle looked really bad to me (just my opinion). I opted to go with the first KO of MP-52 and the weak knees and ankles don't exist and the light up eyes were neat although not practical.

I'm not sure it (ab crunch) is even needed in the transformation I've transformed mp-52 without utilizing the abs, although it does make it easier. But ya DS holds the crunch way better although it seems like it kinda breaks the mold.

Actually, mp52 has both an ab crunch and butterfly shoulder joints.
