I feel so bad for the actress. People can’t differentiate a character from a real person so they blend the two as one and go after them. Threatening them, attempting to dox them, sending unwarranted vitriol over a role. It’s happened before in other media. It’ll happen again with Abby. I don’t want it to, but the internet is the farthest thing from the kindest place.
I think an important distinction to make is that Joel’s death at Abby’s hands was leaked before the game came out and soured a lot of people towards pt2. Many people stopped playing the game after he died, or as we switched to Abby’s perspective. Without fully appreciating the story, many people fermented in their bitterness and hurt over Joel’s death, without real acknowledgement that those feelings were intended by the devs. I’m on the fence about how they’ll go about telling pt2’s story in the show, given that it’ll be two seasons. On one hand, they can do what some suggest and cut between Abby and Ellie as they go through Seattle (the drawback is that this would undercut the overall message and intent of the story, to get the viewer to dehumanize and hate someone entirely, to justify any and all violence against them, and then to see if the viewer can then accept that the hated party is human as well and further absorb the message of both games, “when you’re lost in the darkness, look for the light” [or, to “keep finding something to fight for”] that light being love and community [ellie for Joel, lev for Abby]) OR they could tell the story the same way they told it in the game, but risk giving viewers a 1-2 year wait to stew in their hatred of Abby before giving them a solely Abby centric season 3. It’ll be a hard story for them to tell, no matter what they do.
They'll prolly make it a longer series make it into two or 3 more season
If you're gonna be a spoiler channel, you should probably change your thumbnails
Yes fans hate it happened in the game they will hate it in the show
I met someone who worked on the set of TLOU S2 and he confirmed Joel survives. They understand how essential he is towards the story and the audience.

I wish that someone sent up to Neil and said this is a horrible idea for the sequel we need to come up with something better the fans will be mad
If they have any sense the showrunners will rewrite his demise. I doubt anyone would mind if they didn't kill him at all.
