It is finally here! A welding class on Titanium with Travis Field all the way from Alberta Canada! It was inspirational to have a pro like Travis teach us here at The South Coast Welding Academy how to weld Titanium and here we are sharing the experience with you, our Weldtube family!     He's probably a WET (welding engineering technology) student - we have that up here in Canada north of the wall. They usually start out as welders first.

    Totally awe-strucken! Didn't intend on watching the whole 40+ minutes but did! SouthCoast, hats off to you for your humbleness, you will be rewarded. Second, always knew Fieldres knew his shit, but damn! After watching this, it's obvious he's borderline genius, but he seems genuine. I used to watch his old vids and even followed on IG once, but then he seemed arrogant. I'm glad you had him on!

    When i weld titanium I usually start at the bottom, move my torch left and right until i get to the top. oh and i use argon, and a trail cup if they ask me too.

    Everytime i watch a welding video, i realize how much more knowledge and info there is to learn in the welding industry, & how ive only dabbled in my infancy stage as a intermittent hobby welder. Holy f#%k man! I never heard of him before, but looking at the comments below, in addition to watching the whole clip (that i wasnt prepared on doing, initially), it’s obvious that it’ll be best for me, if i absorb EVERYTHING this guy says about welding.     i weld titanium in 14 years and it's all field weld, tie in, 100% X-ray all passed> but i never used a trailer gas and it's still the same color you've got. all you gonna do is just maintained clean, clean, clean every time before you started weld that's simple!

    I am an Edmontonian working in the oilpatch but im an electrician/instrument mechanic...hes not kidding about the weather.. we got shut down once in peace river(shiver) at -53c(-63.4F)... think spitting and it bouncing because it freezes before it hits the ground. shit'll put hair on yor chest.

    Love your vids man I wish for your continued success. I was wondering if you ever going to make vids using simpler easier to puncture materials like 1x1 square pipes etc on how to fully fuse them together cause I got a client that is trying to get some handtrucks made from scratch using stick welding. Now I’ve only been welding for a couple of months and mostly used tougher material and I’ve been having problems with this even though in theory is such a simple task i will much appreciate it if you ever post a vid on that.

    Nice, when welding alloys I use nuts of the same materials instead of bridge taking. Would titanium nuts cause contamination even though it's going to be removed before filler wire is added?

    He's using memory cloth first. It doesn't smear like a wire brush does. If you watch, he uses the memory cloth back and forth and the wire brush only one direction right after, then he wipes it down clean with a cloth.

    I was on a job like 10 years ago and they had this flange on top of the unit I was working on they had 5 welders try to weld it they all failed they flew in some old man from Alaska to weld it I asked him what they were paying him he said a 100 an hour it was titanium took him 2 shifts but he made a week of 12s at the site first time I said damn there's levels to this lol
