After 5 compartments flood its almost fine. Water get to 6th compartment by very small gap. That's why they made bulkheads higher in Sister ships Olympic and Britannic after Titanic disaster.

@@Wrublos212 It's estimated that the damage to compartment 6 only spanned about 24". It was just enough to flood the coal bunker whose bulkhead wasn't strong enough to hold back the pressure of the sea. It's amazing how on such a large ship it was only 2 feet of damage that ultimately doomed her.

@@309Blink Wow I never heard of that coal bunker bulkhead. Indeed it's fascinating that surface of damage was about a size of human body but it's worth to mention that it was 90m long (6 compartments). As I seen on one documentary "such damage never happened before and after".

You forgot the smoke from the 4th funnel, while it was not connected to any boilers it was the vent for the 1st class smoking room, and this is in the 1900's, sooo...

What do you expect him to do? Go to the studio that made the game and change it himself, besides, while there was some smoke coming from the funnel, there was so little smoke that you can barely see it.

If they'd realised the impact was leaking the front compartments, would have going backwards before the propeller breached gained them time?

Funny how when you simulate its destruction, the Titanic actually seems pretty tough.

The problem and the reason why it sank was the watertight bulkheads didn't go all the way up to the deck so any water that came in the forward compartments went over the top of the bulkheads into the next compartment. The purpose of a watertight bulkhead is to be watertight. All the way up not just below the water line or not just to the top of the rail it has to go to the deck itself in order to be completely watertight big mistake. Second of all they hit the iceberg on its side. If they hit the iceberg head on they wouldn't have the problems that they had.

The Brittanic fixed Titanic flaw with the watertight doors not going high enough and yet it sunk anyway. Also who in their right mind tries to collide with a massive object head on? In standard automobile testing they test crashing with a 50% offset because it's very common to try to avoid crashing even if it makes the end scenario worse. The crew had too much faith in their ship's supremecy, lacking crucial ice warnings and weather information affecting sight. They became careless. Nowdays we know better thanks to lessons learned from disasters such as this.

@@Anders127 completely wrong. They were not sealed at the top. That's a fact not an opinion. That the tops were not sealed and the water went over the tops of the bulkhead into the next compartment and the next compartment and the next compartment. Fact not opinion. Also if they hit it the speed they were going which they had slowed down dramatically they would have had minimal amount of damage fact not opinion

If the bulkheads were opened once in a while, then the water would be distributed throughout the bottom of the ship, and thus the Titanic would have stayed on the water much longer.

It's the wrong angle though :(. In the real ship it broke at about 23 degrees.

fun fact: if the titanic had travelled just an hour more north, the water would have been so shallow that the flag would be sticking out of the water after shed sunk

Well it is accepted that the aft broke and had the double hull at the bottom still attached. When the aft went under and dragged her stern partially down after separating. Which then lead to a huge chunk of the ship being separated as well(2nd grand stair case area). The stern had most of all the heavy equipment and the watertight doors were likely not closed due to that area not being flooded and needed to be opened for the engineers to travel around the important areas. So flooding would’ve been extremely fast trapping a lot of air pockets, which ended up imploding when she dipped beneath the surface.

Hi -thank you for video. However I am not sure that the latest evidence supports the classic view of iceberg damage to the orlop deck and cargo holds 2 & 3 as positionally illustrated in your model. It looks possible that the Titanic when manoeuvring under Mr Murdoch's command mounted an underwater spur which damaged bottom tanks below the tank-top deck aft of the keel. The pumps coped until the ship restarted and began to make way toward Halifax. This latter probably brought about the massive increase in water load through forward motion which doomed the ship. RIP to all lives lost.
