Titanic: Rose tried to rebel out of the snobby world

Rose tried to smoke until caught guard by her mother until her fiance took that cigarette away from her off the handle until she was mini-trapped while lashing out on unpolite at Mr. Ismay and stormed off the palm court area.

She was anti-Cal from the beginning, and then, Jack came and she was totally rooting for him and Rose.

I always imagined what would it have been like if she regrouped with Margaret Brown in New York.

So do I. I think it would have done a better job tying up the loose ends after Rose arrives in NYC. Seeing Molly taking Rose under her wing in the first days and weeks after the sinking. You know, just to help her out with a roof and a job maybe. Get her slowly and steadily in the groove. Especially, after Rose' fallout with her mom. Then, this twist would have honored the legacy of the real Molly Brown too, for whom she really was. Knowing the good things she did after Titanic, like standing up for the survivors and honoring Captain Rostron for his bravery rescuing the 720 passengers on his ship the RMS Carpathia. Finally, I understand that Cameron was short on time, because the movie was already 3 hours long the way it was and why we didn't see more of Rose being ashore in NYC. The length of themovie was a record and thus a risk at the time. Regarding less daily runtime for cinema's. So, there isn't any blame on James. It's just fan-fiction for now.

When Cal orders the rarely cooked lamb for Rose, for all you Mommie Dearest fans, it reminded me of Joan Crawford ordering rare steak for her daughter Christina when the latter mouthed off at her in the restaurant. (Christina hated rare meat). I guess this was a common method of getting back at someone who just sassed away at you!

The one thing Rose should not have done at the table was to smoke. Even the men were not doing that, and it is simply not fair to those sitting around her.

What was Rose trying to do when talking to Ismay about Dr Floid was she saying to him in her own way that he needs help or was she advising him to think twice about how he is building his ships?

She meant Sigmund Freud’s idea about male preoccupation with the size of penis. She meant to be sarcastic to Ismay’s obsession with hugeness (The ‘Titanic’ ship also was named by him, which means huge).
