This movie blew me away. I never stay in the theater after the credits roll but I stayed the entire time just thinking with my jaw dropped and running my hands through my hair, scratching my head. My girlfriend's jaw was dropped too just starring at the screen after it ended. Afterward we went to a late night 24hour diner and sat there and talked about the movie for like 3 hours until 2am. That is when you know you have made an epic movie, when moments like I mentioned above happen. This was the best movie of 2021 hands down, if not the past decade!!!

Saw the movie last night and can't stop thinking about it. It's this wild journey that makes you feel so much, so intense and then leves you to take it all in. Got to see it in a huge theater and that made the experience even greater, from the sound to the collective reactions. Loved it

I loved this film so much two nights ago, I went back to see it again last night. Insanely strenuous and stunning performance by Agathe Rouselle, an opening sequence that would satisfy any Refn fan and the remainder had some serious Cronenberg vibes. Bravo!

@Lorenzo Smit - Where to start... It had no meaning, no plot, and no purpose. The lead character spoke about 5 words in the whole movie. No one ever knows what's going on or why. The viewer has no idea what they are watching. There's no flow to the movie, it's completely disjointed. You don't get to know any of the characters. There is no point to the movie, It's just one stupid scene after another. Everything in the movie is strange beyond belief, and _Not_ in a good way (In a very boring and ridiculous way)! It's like a bad dream, everything is all over the place, it's depressing, it's bad, and none of it makes sense.

@@tonyzuco6144 Movies are art. You don't always have to have a meaning. Like multiple people watching the same abstract painting, they see it differently. This 100% isn't for everyone and I can totally see why you didn't like it. Can't say if it was good or bad. In my mind it made no sense but I still liked it.

This film comes to personal taste. Personally I loved it. While I do agree with some scenes happening too sudden with no explanation, it’s at least better than 5 extra minutes of exposition. The film sort of reminds me of Villeneuve’s Enemy and how there’s a lot of weird things happening throughout the that film. The comparison is a bit of a reach, but those 2 films have a couple of elements that are similar to each other.

This movie is more mature. Julia graduated from the most prestigious Literature and Philosophy European University : Henri IV Hypokhâgne + La Fémis Cinema School, scenario section. On french interviews she goes deeper in her reflexion : she explains that the ''roots' of the movie is the grec mythology Titans : the 6 children of Ouranos and Gaya. She keeps it simple for the US audience because of lake of time during interviews. Go and check her Arte Cinema french interview. Fascinating.

I believe it's pronounced with a long a, so it rhymes with Jane. It's an allusion to titanium, the steel alloy, or so I think. I think this is one of the sickest movies I've ever seen and also one of the most fascinating. Did I like it? I think that's the wrong question to ask. Like or dislike does not apply to a film like this one. Sometimes I hated what was happening on the screen, while at other times, I couldn't take my eyes off the protagonist and her weird/beautiful face and body and her instantaneous transitions from seeming tenderness to homicidal violence. Give the creators of this movie a G, G for guts.

I agree with allot of what you said in your review. I rated it a little lower, but part of that could have been due to seeing it in a theater with less than 10 people. Seems like one that would be better with a crowd reacting around you. While I thought that it was well made with some strong visuals, the lack of any real plot to speak of for long stretches kept me from loving it. It just sort of darted around at will. I was able to go with more of the bizarre stuff, but the more normal stuff that sometimes didn't seem to make any sense were more difficult to handle. I did applaud the audaciousness of it, though. Huge swings.

My reaction, 10 mins after watching the movie. A flm for Millennials. The director is young, watches horror films, has a young andogynous punk style. My nephews are very familiar with gender theory: they have decided not to be a girl or a boy. They are gender fluid. It is fashion among the under 25s. This film is an interrogation on the genre, the identity. What we are and what society sends back to us about our identity. (! Spoil!) The young girl is quite a woman when she is with her super sexy and pretty Cadillac at the start. Then she switches to lesbian boyish mode. It is neither a girl, nor a boy then. Then, the Titanium implant makes that its hormones during adolescence took into account this element in her sexual development and her sexual maturation. She is now attracted by the metal. New question: is she a human or an object as she merges with the machine to become a hybrid? Julia Ducornau reflected on the theory of gender (man / woman) and pushed it to the exponential squared. To push the limits of identity even further. The herione is neither '' the daughter of, nor the son of '' Vincent Lindon. He calls her Adrien or Alexia, he doesn't even care, it's his child, period, whether this thing has an identity defined by the boxes of society or not (daughter of? Son of?). He loves her by parentage like that. She is not even his child, she has, after all, no blood connection with him. Why wouldn't she kiss him like a lover at the end of the movie? Shocking, but the director continues the deconstruction of identity and therefore the deconstruction of the prison. Sté director uses incest, it's shocking, but not in vain. She wants to say something. She goes crescendo, deconstructs the identity of the little girl, to get her out of her cage. I understand better her receiving speech Palme d'Or in Cannes. Adrien is Adrien, but she is also Alexia for Vincent Lindon. And Alexia could a woman too : she is amazed to be pregnant like a woman, everything is muddled. The director explodes the limits of the identity established by social codes that fail to define Alexia. So that she can become herself at the end of the film, the director fucks all the rules pre-established by nature. human on the ground: Vincent Lindon becomes Alexia's 'husband', or companion when he helps her give birth. She puts an end to the shattering of pre-established rules when Lindon lovingly kisses the dead Alexia. Alexia is finally defined in its entirety by her child: made of Titanium and flesh who will be the son of Lindon who will replace Adrien. The truest thing in this movie is this father's love for his lost son, and it will be filled with a baby who is the truest thing too, the truest definition of Alexia, a baby who is the result of the liberation by her mother of all her prisons, to become herself, to become true. I'm writing this without having read any reviews or seen any interviews, but I think Julia (the director) is damn smart and the directing is superb. The film also deals with the subject of disability, Alexia is disable : the doctor says that her cognitive functions are damaged by the accident and that she can become a psychopath: under the pressure of stress, without understanding the prohibition, she kills. Here she is unsuited to life in society, she is afraid of everything and destroys when she stresses. Which is in line with the director's speech. I think Julia forgot to be an idiot. She is freaking smart.

It’s definitely not Ty (according to everyone at the festivals) They said “Tea” like a cup of tea. The iffy pronunciation is coming with the second part of the word.

i remember this filmmaker. in her first movie a straight woman kills a bi man. it's not a surprise for me that Titane is transphobic. Indie Wire has a good article about it.
