Tisas 1911 Carry DS Optic Footprint Fail and Dawson Magwell
Спорт
Video showing the Dawson precision gen 1 Staccato/STI magwell I installed on my Tisas 1911 Carry DS.
I went to mount my Holosun EPS on the slide and the optic footprint was too tight. I tried 2 more optics and none of them fit. I show where I had to take off material to make them fit. I also go over the non-standard screws that are needed.

We had same issue with all five we ordered for our shop. My shop is about 30 minutes from SDS/Tisas in Knoxville and they wasn’t no help on resolving the issue. We can’t keep any 1911 Tisas in stock due to us talking them up so high and this happens. Hopefully they get issue resolved and take you email serious because I used your cleanup method and all five are snug and good to go. Awesome video with great detailed info. Thank you
My was the same, cheap Riton would fit but my Holosuns would not. Tisas wants me to send them the slide to fix it but haven’t yet.

Ah dang! Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear yours is the same. Seems like it may be an issue with their tolerances. Its easy to clean up (took me about 10 min). But I understand not everyone will be comfortable doing that, and its bullshit that it needs done in the first place.
I'm looking forward to what magic you perform on this!

Just waiting on one last part - a barrel bushing. Budget upgrade video coming soon, then porting soon after that!

Me 2!
My EPS Carry mounted perfectly to the BR9 using the thin plate the EPS ships with, maybe I got lucky. The Holosun optics can occasionally be slightly off with measurements, that could be the reason it didn't fit right in. Also the Tisas magwell is in stock right now.

Ah I didn't think to check if the adapter plate in there would help. Glad to hear you didn't have issues!
Had no issues with the optic cut and it came with screws. But I have heard multiple issues with the carry version
Mine wouldnt fit either but then i put both front and back of the optic in the cut at the same time and pressed down and it popped in nice and snug

Tight is good! Thats a little too tight haha. Glad you got it to work. Unfortunetely I couldn't get any of the three optics I tried to pop down in there.

@@Dontthinkiwill Its been awsome other than the optic cut! Ran reliably out of the box. With the upgrades and tuning I've done to it, the thing is amazing!

@@jesusm8672 Oh cool. I have only ever seen m4x0.7 and #6-32 with the holosun K optics. I have like 3 or 4 of the holosun 407K. I didn't have any m3x0.5 screws in any of my old boxes.
This happened w all the Holosuns?

Yes. None of the 3 I tried would fit.
Tisas imports nothing but crap, they have at least 7 different recalls on different pistols, stay away from their shotguns, waste of money.

I'm sorry that has been your experience with Tisas products. Other than the optic footprint issue with this one I have been generally impressed with the pistol for the price point. Its been reliable, has decent billet internals, and is a great place to start for upgrades.
