    Best tips: Go to whatever field these guys are on! I've never seen that many birds in one day on game lands. Find a good field.

    I say it mostly has to do with luck that the birds just happen to be funneling over your area. Many times they do that. 2 days ago I had flocks of white wing passing overhead my spot, the next day they were 150 yards east & twice as high than the day before. That’s why bringing different chokes and shot size is important.

    The best advice I can give is don't come up too early, stop taking shots beyond 35 yards, and lead the target. If you do these 3 things you'll bring your ratio down to 2 shells per 1 dove...I promise. Too many people think bird shot is effective beyond 40+ yards...you may get lucky every once in a while making those 50 yard shots but your shot count will go WAY up. Second, let the bird come in before you bring your shotgun to the ready. They will see you and if you come up too soon they'll veer putting them beyond shooting range or in a path that makes for a harder shot. Don't be afraid to let birds go....don't blast at every dove you see. If you don't like the direction it's coming in or the range it's at just let it fly away....it may come back later in a better position for you to take the shot.

    I will agree that more PEOPLE are not effective at 40+ yards but the birds hot itself will absolutely get the job done, I have hunted 10 days out of this season and dropped plenty of birds with one shot, the key is choke up and practice longer shots. Shooting sporting clays regularly throughout the year helps.

    Shooting birds under 30 yards isnt sport its slaughter. If you can't kill cleanly at 40 yards try something else shooting isnt for you.

    I’m not bragging and I actually feel really really bad, but me and my crew hunt outside of Yuma for dove twice per year. I feel so bad, because I completely DOMINATE in knocking down birds and getting my limit in about 30-45 minutes. I attribute that to have been an avid bird hunter for 45+ years. It’s not a special,skill as anyone can do it if they practice long enough.

    Classic outdoor integrated commercial. If you buy expensive shells, and special sights “you can over come your mistakes”. Learn a proper mount, shoot with both eyes open and only look at the bird and not the barrel. Maybe go take a lesson for the price of the sight and over hyped shells. Buying a product will not make you a better shooter.

  • @AmericanaOutdoors1

    @AmericanaOutdoors1

    We would disagree on a couple of your points. Faster loads and heavier loads put more on the target. You also mention look at the barrel so looking at a sight that catches your eye helps there as well. For sure proper mount works great but shooting with both eyes open isn't possible for everyone as some folks are not able to do that due to eye dominance issues. But we do appreciate you taking the time to comment
