    Great video. As an actual tire design engineer (40 years) you just need to point out that the tire is a "Training tool" as you can't have a lot of repairs in a tire or even just two if they are too close together. Otherwise Great training video

    We found bead sealer, the rubbery black glue, works pretty damn good over using rubber cement for the last application over the patch area. Sticks better and last a heck of a lot longer through weathered temperatures like humidity and going from cold to hot.

    I recently took tire to Sams Club for such repair. Tire flipper made install, called me over shorty after pointing out repair didn’t take with soapy solution. I could clearly see air escaping , He blamed it on nail direction entering tread = bogus excuse. Needless to say I was pissed instructing him to install spare tire. Days later I inspected patched tire finding no air escape, put 35lb in & have been driving it for over week. I’m not sure what happened but hope it holds till after holidays

Such patch requires tire demount from rim , inspected on inside removing damaged material , filling void with rubber & sealing innerliner. Getting tire off rim would of taken me extra time seeing I don't have access to tire demount machine so Sam's around corner was going to be my sure fast fix. Unfortunately, that wasn't case. Flipper failed to install patch seen in video properly. Month later tire started leaking again ended up purchasing new ones

    What is the difference between a patch or a plug except the cost? Is the patch recommended because of the warranty or is it safer?

  • @kennethadkins3335

    @kennethadkins3335

    A patch seals the liner but does not fill the hole from the object that damaged the tire. A string/rope repair will fill the damaged area but does a poor job sealing the tire and they can accidentally get pulled out of the tire. A Patch/Plug will both fill the damaged hole in the tire AND seal the liner of the tire. It is also the proper method to repair a tire. Thanks for watching!

  • @ryans413

    @ryans413

    A patch goes on the inside of the tire and seals the water from coming inside the tire and the sealer keeps the air from escaping. A plug is just rubber you stick in the hole from the outside of the tire and you cut the ends off. A plug can be done without taking the tire off a patch the tire most come off the rim. A patch is better for long term I had a patch done and 3 years later still holding air a plug is more temporary until you can get a patch done

    Went to sam’s club today. Had slow leak. They did not want to do this. Said you have a tiny hole. If we plug it we have to make a big hole in it to plug it. And we might not even make the bigger whole in the right place. I finally after 45 minutes said I do not trust you with my tire. Hope I was not wrong. This video is how it is done and the way I wanted it done. Tire only had 1556 miles on it. Is their any other way to fix it other than a plug? Which I will not do.

  • @MrAdkinsAuto

    @MrAdkinsAuto

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, the hole is slightly bigger but it becomes a perfect circle for the Patch/Plug to bond to rather than a damaged opening. It is not "adhesive" when performing this process. The patch is chemically bonded to the tire. When performed properly, this repair is approved by tire manufactures. If you don't agree, feel free to buy a new tire.
