Tips & Tricks to Finish Your Songs on the Polyend Play & Play +

Музыка

New gear? Yes! A very slightly used Polyend Play + just arrived and I am working on unearthing its secrets. I haven’t unlocked the full potential yet, but I think I’m getting this song mode thing sort of figured out so I thought I would get some thoughts down on paper…er…video. These are some basic song writing tips specifically for the Play and Play +, although some can be modified for use in other grid based groove boxes.
I know a lot of my long time viewers are pretty seasoned musicians. This is, for the most part, a beginner tutorial, but maybe some of the old grey haired guys like myself have other tips to add in the comments.
A full review of the Play + is scheduled for the near future.

This was an awesome concept and I am going to try this path. The play is fun, quick and seems a good accompany to lots of gear. The synths lack punch and sounds but a step in the right direction. First time I came across your channel and must say you have chops sir! Nicely presented, informative and to the point. I'd love to see you compose this use case in a step by step for us less experienced with the ideas you showed. But I get the gist of it..keeping several songs within one project makes a ton sense and if performing ( or just jamming for yourself) you have lots more flexibility? If you dive deep please do some stuff on the synths and editing sounds. They just seem weak to me.

I was thinking of doing a video on the synths for the Polyend, maybe late spring or early summer. I agree, the synths are a bit lacking but hopefully Polyend will release more options soon. Also, thanks for the compliments and if you are new to the channel, I do have a few videos on making patches and using vst effects breaking down some ideas on what you can do with effect stacking.

Noice! I just got a Play and I’ve been using a similar method to write songs on it, didn’t think of having multiple songs on each project tho, that’s a good one and might end up trying that, thanks for the workflow tips as well 👌🏾

I get the concept....and I REALLY like it. But I'm gonna have to watch this thing like 20 times before I get every one of those button pushes "understood" in my head. Need to go back and look at pattern creation videos too. But all in all , I think this is a fantastic video for getting song structures down and keeping the creative flow going. Great job!!! Thank you.

Glad you found it helpful. Most of the button pushes are holding down the button that you want to copy and then holding the second button down where you want to copy to. I think that's one of the strengths of the Play is that it's pretty easy to copy stuff.

Thank you. Is the conclusion to "best groove box under 500" basically "if song mode is key, save up"? In this price range, the mv-1 also emphasizes song mode.

Pretty much. If you want all the bells and whistles, it's difficult to find for under $500.
