Bevins Bricks sadly there is no rain in our forecast. From reading the comments during your live feeds I think this will help a lot of people. Funny though if I lined up my tracks end to end it probably wouldn’t fit on either table. :)

Hi. Been waiting for this. I too have to think about playability for my city. Still sorting through bricks but I've had an idea of a block 32 by 32 4 shops for base floor with apartment floors on top with two sides open so the boys can play with their mini figs inside. Thanks for the link on the cheep baseplates by the way. It helped alot

Great timing with this, I’ve spent the last week reconfiguring my LEGO room set up...I’ve changed it 3 times and I realise I just don’t have the room here for a big city... it’s too cramped and my head is still a bit concussed from a few weeks ago and I just feel like crap when I go in there.. going back to a smaller set up until I’m in a new house with more room..i need a barn like yours..my house is overrun with boxes of LEGO, Star Wars, Transformers, and Guitars and Amps lol

Thanks, I decided to build my Lego town, that I've been putting off for many years. I recently had spinal surgery and needed something to do than just sitting around watching TV or sleeping and turning into a couch potato. I didn't do it before, because I basically had no room in my house to build it, because I share the house with my partner who is a hoarder and was told I could not have a second room for my hobbies. We both love Lego, he builds Technic sets, but I love the City and Creator sets. I'm currently recovering at my dad and sister's house and they have an entire basement that isn't being used, so I started setting up my Lego town there. I used an old bedroom door as a platform stacked on top of boxes and I got at least 3 rows of baseplates down and started the downtown section. I thought that I should get a few of those folding tables from Walmart to build it on, but wasn't sure what size. Now I know and I think I will get 4 of these 6 ft tables and build my town on it. The airport is going to need it's own table, because I have 9 planes in total of varying sizes. I have it set up on the floor and I can tell you, it's going to be a very busy airport when it's done.

Something that works for me and my city in terms of trains and modulars is the modular that has the most space in the back will be used by train track for example the detectives office has a lot of unused space enough for a line of straight track for trains to run so I slide that under the track but since the Perisan Resturant does not have enough room for that I put it in a different area where it does fit.

So for right now I'm building on the floor, and I'm getting a big building 🏢 soon. Anyways I needed help on how I could make it look like a road I don't have road pieces but I do have base plats. Any ideas?

I've done that myself before when I was a kid also and an easy solution if you still want to train is the train cannot physically run but you can run the tracks around the front of it at least for appearance anyway

I think my capacity is to build the starting of a town, pre railway, but probably with LEGO designed buildings instead of custom making the typical pub/saloon, church and sheriff station. I think it easier to watch you live my LEGO building dreams out.

One thing you forgot to mention about LEGO baseplates: the actual size of the baseplate is 10" × 10", but the actual area covered when built upon is 10 1/16" × 10 1/16", so a table measuring exactly 30" × 70" would come up short on both sides. The width would be 3/16" of an inch too short while the length would be 7/16" too short--almost 1/2"! I discovered that the hard way when building my city from custom tables that I built. I have to add a strip of wood to both sides to make them properly support my baseplates, especially when one length of my city stretches the length of 38 baseplates. Without the modification to my tables I would end up with 2 3/8" of unsupported baseplate. I realize this video was about building a small layout, but just thought that those contemplating building a small city of their own would like to know for future planning.
