Hi Megga, are you currently working as a full time barista or only as a part-time barista? What if I am already a barista here in my country, is it required to have a certification there in Australia before you can work as a barista?

Hello, I am working full-time as I am not studying at the moment. To become a barista in Australia, rarely any certification is needed. You just need to prove your competencies and knowledge about coffee during interview or trial :)

Hi, I’m interested in coffee culture in Melbourne. I’ve heard that people go to a cafe before going to office and chat with friends in the store. Is that true?

That is right. It is a very special way to bond with friends and colleagues. Corporate workers will have two to three coffee breaks everyday depending on your company. Coffee hangout and coffee dates are very common :)

Hello! If you are talking about Melbourne, barista ceritifcate won’t take you anywhere. I suggest go to a course by reputable roastery, so you gain some connections. They will provide you with certificate afterwards, but just focus on learning and getting connections :) My recommendation if you are in Melbourne: Axil Coffee, Five Senses

Hello! First and the most important step is to get a visa. Being a foreigner and without a visa, you aren’t allowed to work in Australia. When you get here, you can follow the advices in this video to help you get the job faster :) Have a good day!
