Tips on Saving Money While Shopping for School Supplies

As the school year is just around the corner, parents and their kids are hitting the stores for back-to-school supplies. Lifestyle expert Veena Crownholm has some tips on saving money while back-to-school shopping. Her No. 1 tip for being most efficient with your budget is to buy items, such as notebooks, in bulk. Crownholm also says you can add patches to an old backpack or lunch bag to make them look fresh and new.

    Buying in bulk IS the key. My school shopping for my children looked like overkill however their supply lasted for years and our bank account wasn’t stressed.

    @@ThE_BEsTreal Just do the work, seriously man it’s not that bad compared to Uni. Join a club or something, you’ll miss out on a lot of cool activities or parties if you don’t at least do something. Go to a school football with friends or make more friends. Do be alone is all I’m saying. I regretted high school for being alone all the time. I had no one and hated high school for it. I tried making friends but they all had their groups that I couldn’t fit in. It was more “I know this person because we talked in class.”

    Good idea...it does have benefits in the long run. But the initial outlay of cash (buying in bulk) can be very staggering! Have to consider both sides on that decision. 🤔

Or say like they said you split it with the families in the neighborhood hood, well you guys would first all get together and say who will buy what on the list. Each of you will only end up buying one bulk item and then you come together and split everything out.

    @The Punisher and the supplies u buy for your kids the teacher takes it and uses it for her classroom and alot of times they don't even use it. Someone just told me that their mom or somebody was a janitor and that the teachers would just throw all that stuff away at the end of the year. My old boss told me that during the pandemic her sister who is a teacher gave her a huge bottle of hand sanitizer bcz she said the students bring them in and they never use it.

    I always had to get the 64 pack of Crayola Crayons with the sharpener on the back for each new school year along with a couple of packs of different colored Crayola markers, a pencil box, a lunch box, new pencils with my favorite cartoon characters on them such as Garfield, new clothes, shoes, and a new backpack! I LOVED having a bigger set of crayons than the some of other kids in my class!

    Welp my school has its own stationery and I always buy stuffs there cus it's always cheaper than buying from outside store, plus if you're buying pen in bulks a lot of them tend to be unused and ended up drying itself

    @@scorpiocara6798 We actually Just started it. When School was getting back in session after the whole covid thing. School boards took a Vote that was open to Public to vote on. It was like 85% for All Year Round Schooling said Yes to. 10% said No. 5% was more or less Yes and No.

    Speaking from experience from school all the way to college, I would definitely say that brand name matters when it come to writing instruments compared to cheaper generic ones. I have countless cheaper ink pens, pencils, calligraphic pen, etc. fail or just generally doesn't last as long as more costly brand name ones.

    depends on the item, but for school supplies, I kinda agree. electronics is the one I would say brand matters a bit more, but that's when you're comparing store/generic vs name brand (Walmart/Onn vs Samsung). Name brand would have better quality on items they specialize in, compared to a superstore generic brand where they just find a small-time manufacturer to buy from with their label slapped in it.

    Never understood the idea of back to school shopping, folders, pencils, pens I literally made it through junior year with a draw string bag and a borrowed pencils Don’t fall into the trap lol use what ya need

    I mean why not buy in bulk? Think about it. High School and Junior High COMBINED is 8 years! Buy it all in like two separate periods and you're set for the rest of time!
