Hello Thomas. Thank you so much for sharing this information. A lot of what you said I had to learn the hard way. One thing that I used to do was ask people what their budget was. BIG MISTAKE! I ended up spending my own money because my name was attached and I wanted it to look right. I used to do an invoice, but one of my clients started picking it apart to get a lower price. I knew the look that I was going for, so I gave her the lower price and still did the job that I wanted to do. Needless to say, I lost money on that too. Now I have a package that I offer and I have a set price. Lately, people have been calling for my service and they’re not booking because they don’t want to pay my price. I’m learning not to be too concerned about that because I know what it entails to pull off a job, and the work is very hard. I know that my change is coming and I will be ready. Omg! You just summed up all of what I’ve learned and what I’m still learning. I would rather take 2 events and get paid my worth than to get 200 events and not make a dime. Once you are tired enough and understand your worth you will have so much peace in your price!

This video is so encouraging I really needed this .. At times I get discouraged because lack of help and because I don’t.. charge enough sometimes i just break even..Like I’m just working for free.. So thank you fir this content

Ok, storytime I Am definitely a beginner to this BUT this graduation season I was asked by a woman from church to do a balloon back drop set up for her grand daughters graduation party. So whilel I'm doing this her daughter from North Carolina (I'm in Maryland) jokingly asked me to come do her daughter's which was the next day. I didn't go but during the party a guest asked for my information and I did a setup for her son's graduation party the next weekend. So while I'm doing this job her mom (from Philadelphia ) asked if I was willing to travel for her companies anniversary in August ❤ Yes ma'am I said!They both bought the balloons from Amazon and I just asked them to pay me what was on their heart. I teared up when they each paid me because I honestly didn't expect that much. I know that it only gets better from here 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you for your wisdom Thomas 🙏🏾

Your new persona, Teacher Thomas🥰. You hit the nail on the head with those 5 tips. I am guilty of number 2 😬. Many times I get photos from someone who attended the event or I delegate someone to do it. My clientele is by word of mouth, when I retire next year I will officially start my social media pages. The last 4 weekends including today, I have had events without advertising🙏🏽🙌🏽. This included a high paying customer who didn't care about price and gave me a tip when I was completed. It's nice to see how the other half lives😂. From your mentorship, I invested in the basic white linens. Rental in my country is fairly cheap so I will continue to do that for now. Hey Thomas. Love all your decor. When I started out I did an event for someone and didn’t charge but $250. First no profit second I spent my money and third she talked about me and my decor. I informed her on EVERYTHING that was going on and she agreed with me. All I can say is lesson learned ❤

Thanks for the advice. I have folks who always tell me what someone else has or what they do. I let that miss me because I'm uniquely me and am not trying to be a copy of anyone else. I use work I've seen on instagram and KZread as inspiration then put my own twist to it. I was guilty of doing parties out of my own pocket when I 1st started, using Lkarna to pay for it. After a year of being broke and completing the payments for someone else's fun I cut that bs out. Now I have set prices and they can either pay it or not. Like right now I charged a client $850 for a sweet 16 with 50 guests ( pretty cheap because she's family). My fee $400 plus the event is 2 hours away. The party is next Sunday. She gave me $100 last week. $100 yesterday. That barely covers her decor, plus she needs dinnerware, tables, chairs and linen 😑.

We live and we learn. I usually reevaluate my pricing and my overhead costs every so often to see if I’m making money or not. Now is a good time to try that since we are halfway through the year, you want to be able to make some money. ❤️

It’s what works for you and your demographic. How much do you want to take home from your services, start there. After that determine, realistically, what you can offer to achieve that and set yourself apart from the others. It can be done and people will pay your worth!
