    Good tips Dan. I remember being alone in the woods a lot of times and getting hurt more than once. Went off the side once over a bank going too fast. Hit a BFR and banged my left nut on the gas tank. Knocked the wind out of me, rolling around turning blue miles out in the woods. Left a perfect dent in the gas tank! LOL! A lot of good sense there. Great trails there. Looking forward to more riding.

    Always good using the buddy system. Can get you out of a really tight spot. Already planning this year's trip.

    My bride and I did the Black hills ON MY Harley in 91, needless to say it wasn't off-road. lol. We did check out a cave tour, but can't remember where. Even tho we were on paved roads, the ride was great. Thanks for the off-road ride.

    It is an incredible area out there, on or off road.

    Signaling how many are behind you is appreciated by all. Being cautious around blind corners or nearing hilltops is critical. Being nice and waving is good, too.

    It helps a lot, those trails can be very narrow.

    Great video-thanks! I love Black Hills dirt, whether on a Honda EX422, a Kawasaki KLR, or one of my Harleys (yep, Harleys). Ride it every year...

    Great info on the trail riding safety and requirements. In Texas they require license tags for state parks utv and atv.

    A friend of mine has the side-by-side and an encyclopedic knowledge of the trails, I have the location: 2 miles from a Central Black Hills trailhead. He stops by, I hop in, and we go. But planning would be essential when coming from out of town.

    My wife and I are renting a rig in Spearfish. (I live in NJ so too far to tow the Rmax.) I typically ride Hatfield and McCoy and the rules are pretty much the same. Anything I need to know about the trails? Any recommendations on trails I should check out?

    Just make sure to download the AP then when you are riding you can follow your routs, the AP runs on Satellite on your phone and not cellular connection. The trails are colored on the map for difficulty, and most are well labeled for width as well.

    What width of bike are u allowed to have to use the trails? How heavily is this enforced? I see on websites they say 62 but a lot of the new bikes are 64 plus. Thx

  • @3DOutdoors

    @3DOutdoors

    It depends on the trail. We had both paper and electronic maps, the one I mentioned in the video, that show what width and difficulty the trails are. And we followed the rules, so we didn't have to worry about the enforcement part.
