    What we eventually did was just buy a carpet runner instead of the carpet scrap. That way we don’t have to remove it when the slide is out and it looks great. Thanks for watching

    Thank you very much. Very informative as I didn’t know about the slides rubbing. It makes sense because on ours the carpet wraps around and under the slide. This would make sense being the buffer or glide for the surface.

    Thanks for the tips yes I watched the "other" video and I had questions regarding the wisdom of installing household plank (thick) vinyl flooring in a situation where there's extreme temps. I believe they make special rv flooring because of that. Also like everyone wonders is the slide out issue. Basically gonna take some detective work and knowledge before proceeding. Thanks for the great video.

    Thank you for making and posting this video. I agree, there are way too many issues to deal with in regards to it staying down and separating at the seams. I saw RV Tito did his with no glue and it’s a vinyl planks that lock together. But I like your feedback and wisdoms. I pulled up my carpet thinking there would be final all the way but not, it went about 8 inches past a vent so the last 3 feet of my RV is plain particle boArd so I need to take out the old and put in a new one that covers the entire floor. And I am also with you on the slide out and the transition of the slide.

    As to the vinyl plank over hang we cut a 3” piece of planking and put it under the over hang for travelling and storage. I supports the vinyl and protects it from stepping in it and causing damage. When using Rv, the flooring piece it sits in storage compartment until needed again.

    I just installed expensive flooring and even acclimated it for a month in a place where weather is fickle. I was against this bc I was raised by a man who I would spend many years in his woodshop. Guess what! It’s buckled. I left space. My hubs who is not a handyman but watched these “van lifers,” who gave HORRIBLE tips just bc they built their van… & he thought I was wrong. Most of these van lifers haven’t lived in it long enough to forecast problems. Like my dad told me to rewire/tape any Japanese wires bc of the crimps. The day before- the Renogy smoked bc of the thin wires, exposed crimping. I’m sitting on this buckled floor- pissed, trying to find better options. Expensive doesn’t mean BETTEr!!!

But interlock LVP w/ glue. We'll see which direction my research leads. I live full time in my RV. Parked in the same spot for 3 years. Wish me luck.

    I have an older mobile home and will be ripping out carpet. I've wondered if after sanding wood floor...that composite-type, I believe, if it would be wise to prime and paint, or just paint...to give added protection to the wood before laying down vinyl (is that linoleum?). I too, like the idea of one solid piece. So, question: Will that cause any adhesive improper adhesion...due to the paint? Even if roughened a bit with light sanding? Also, great video, tips, and right to the point. Thanks!

  • @PleasantValleyOutdoors

    @PleasantValleyOutdoors

    3 жыл бұрын

    The new vinyl replaced the old linoleum. I don’t know if the adhesive would stick to paint. Going right over the wood flooring would be the best way to eliminate any adhesion issues as that is what the glue is made for. Hope this helps and thanks for watching .

    did you glue the entire sheet or just the perimeter? I am wondering about expansion with hot and cold, my old 2008 5th wheel vinyl cracked under extreme cold when stored over winter. From pulling it up the manufacturer just stapled the edges, maybe a bit of glue.

  • @PleasantValleyOutdoors

    Although it’s only been 1 camping season, we are more than satisfied with our choice of flooring. We spent a little more by going to a flooring store instead of a big box store but we wanted a quality floor that should last for years. I would still recommend a 1 piece vinyl over snap together laminate but that’s just my opinion. Thanhs for the comment and have a great new year .
