I'm setting up as a dealer tomorrow. 2nd time ever...I don't have a lot of high end products but I'm not trying to get rich either. I'm full of manners and etiquette as you speak of it. Let's all be civil and try to build this thing!! There is a lot of money in this. 1) have fun 2) make money

Thanks for the info. I'm fairly new to the hobby. Just went to my 2nd ever card show last weekend and I felt a little uncomfortable pulling out my phone looking up comps when I'm trying to make a deal on a card lol glad to know I'm not the only one.

But for a $100 card, I asked if it was alright if I checked the prices on my phone and the lady was shocked I was polite enough to ask! So Ill keep doing that

Great video man I agree with the etiquette love the Intel I will be forwarding this video to others that I know in the industry When it comes to etiquette, we have no control over what the customers are going to do so I don’t get mad or showing attitude to any customers, but I treat them with the upmost respect always and the dealers need to figure that out to that just because somebody lowballed you doesn’t mean you need to start getting loud or telling them to go to the next table that’s not right People are going to lowball you. It’s a part of the game bartering is a part of this business nothing has a set price in stone and quite frankly the dealers Barger them self to get good deals for the stuff they sell, so how are they different from the buyers? Also, this past weekend I had different sealed packs of sports cards and other cards for kids that are just getting into the hobby. I would give them a pack of their choice for free whether they bought for me or not just to promote the hobby. I think it’s a great idea for kids to get into this to keep them away from all the bullshit on the streets, some of the dealers did not agree with me that I shouldn’t be giving out those packs for free what I do with my business is my business and I told them if you don’t agree with it that’s fine it doesn’t hurt me but I can tell you this I gave out almost 40 packs and I can honestly say about 30 of them came right back to me and bought more cards but regardless of making sales or not, it’s about promoting the hobby for the youth in the future but another thing is the dealers honestly man they need an attitude check big time when it comes to customers and dealing with other dealers in the show There was these two young guys across the way from me selling cards singles from $3.00 to $7.50 they literally had over 500 cards in sleeves on display and sold every single one. Some of the dealers were like you guys are stealing our sails. You guys are selling them for two cheap. What somebody does with their business is their business again these fucking dealers need to just mind your own business and worry about what they’re selling honestly tell you the truth when I go to the shop I never go check out with anybody else is doing I stick to my booth and that’s it.

Great advice. I both attend shows as a buyer and occasionally set up as a dealer. Both sides of the isle need to treat each other with respect as you suggested. The worst type of dealer/buyer to me is the grumpy, arrogant one who tries to force/bully a deal through, and then you both end up unhappy with a bad experience. Why not make it a win-win for both sides?

Spot on! I was a dealer at a show over the weekend. I had a 2018 Shohei Ohtani Rated Rookie that was selling for $40. a 2019 Topps Chrome Ohtani / Ryan card I just sold on ebay a few days before for 20 and third Yordan Rookie that is selling between 5 and 10. I had them priced at 40, 20 and 10 which equals 70. The buyer asked what I can do on the three cards I said 50 and he passed. Ten minutes later after he looked on ebay he showed me the Yordan Rookie that sold for 1.80 and showed one other low comp. Without me arguing about how card sells do not follow the lowest comp on each card instead I said 45 and he offered 40. I took the offer but sure did ruffle my feathers and will be hesitant to deal with that person in the future. People do not realize that ebay and the internet does not equal real life situation 99.9% of the time...

@@TheGreatCurator. it was pretty rude to show the lowest comp on a card and expect me to match that price. Next time I will have to take my time and explain to him how ebay comps work in real life. I did however try to explain to him how I price my cards I go off how much I paid, how much recent completed sales and how much it would cost me to replace that card if I wanted to buy the same card that same day. Also majority of auctions on ebay sell of at least 10% up to 50% less than they would as buy it nows. I know because its been several listing on auction that ended that I would have bought for more except I was timed out with distractions doing other things. Anyways, I really enjoy your content! It is a fresh perspective with intelligence and humor. Thank you.

Ty once again for the instructional video. Like I've stated before just started collecting in august. Even sold my first 6 cards for $50. Traded a couple times and gifted a few cards to people that have helped me with information. They may not have been worth hundreds of dollars but the gesture of giving them cards of a player or team always is satisfying to both parties. Next time I comment probably will be on my hobby accounts that I have newly created. If you have any links on, how to correctly negotiate or setting prices you wouldn't mind negotiating on, can you please share it. If you haven't made a video on anything about this yet I will hopefully look forward to new content as well. Praise u for teaching. Much appreciated for real.

Of course im NOT insisting that the dealer match the ebay comp, buts its simply a fact that card show dealers are in competition with ebay dealers whether they like it or not. If the show dealer wont match the ebay comp thats their prerogative and its my prerogative to proceed to buy it on ebay!

I have to quickly snort some of Joker's laughing gas to keep a smile going to everyone asking why they would buy from me when EBAY is cheaper. I always ask them why they not pressing the buy button then? As they take a minute to try to come up with an answer, I answer for them. I said, " You'll need to look super hard at all the pictures to make sure the card isn't damaged, then you gotta check if the seller is legit; and even when you press BUY, you'll have to wait anxiously to see if your gamble is correct or not. But with me now, you can ask any questions while analyzing the card in your hand ( I even provide a magnifier for them). In the end, you go home confident in your purchase with me :) Just gotta a bit more than EBAY's lowest price". Sometime I get the sale, sometimes I don't... :P

A dealer is there to make money. They are not going to give you fair value, unless you have something very unique. They will try to make you feel good to sell to them at 50%. Trading be prepared to lose for the most part, unless you got something unique or highly liquid. At the end up the day, somebody making money and someone loosing money. Before you walk up to a table, know prices. If you are a noob, you will get robbed. No dealer is going to tell you, that you got 3k card. They will wait to see your price and if you say 300,they will say... i guess i can do that. Playing stupid with you. There some honest ones, but money is money.

See, I think all your information is very good, but then you go into a rant on how market value is not your value. When I see people that want above comps on cards there are 2 things that occur in my mind. 1. They just don't want to sell their cards. or 2. They are looking for a sucker. I'm all for you trying to make a profit, but if you're overvaluing your cards when you knowingly can see you're 10% high, it's just a person taking advantage of others. You're looking to take advantage of somebodies emotional connection for your own gain. If you're comfortable with making more money in a less than moral manner, then keep taking advantage of others emotional connection to that card. I just personally think it's a pretty unethical practice and would hope you'd think the same, but I'm going to assume you see it a different way. Just know that to be capitalist does not mean you need to take advantage of every situation. If you can't make money at current market values then you're probably doing something wrong. End rant.
