Thank you so much for that! Because I do see a great deal of artists who hold it that way. It actually feels better in my hand when I cuff it, but I'm glad I saw this video. Great tips!
taught me something
Smh I'm so glad I watched this, never again lol
Thank you so much!!!
I have never understood why people do that.
Nice one…you got me on this...
THANX 4 THE TIPS MAN
Covering that part of the mic changes the polar pattern of the diaphragm and that causes feedback.
Man just about every famous rapper cuffed it. I tried the proper way and you get so engaged with the crowd you’ll end up forgetting the distance of the mic to your lips. I’m cuffing I’m not tryna kiss that dirty microphone
im performing tomorrow!
It can happen then, too. But feedback is a LOT easier to achieve, even at long distances if you cuff the mic in such a fashion.
Thank you
as a sound engineer i thank you
heres a tip. DONT EVER CUFF THE MIC!. Even if you're growling or doing cleans or what ever
Good tip
It's called "cupping" but otherwise great advice

likelystorybandnj - - Actually, what was discussed IS "CUFFing" because the hand is around the sides of the mic with the crown exposed. Imagine how a shirt sleeve has a CUFF that goes AROUND the sides of your wrist (your arm & wrist would be the shaft of the mic) and the crown of the mouthpiece would equate with your closed fist - - thus, CUFFING. Now, CUPPING the mic is when you place your hand over the CROWN of the mic as you would do when you are trying to make a "side bar" comment to someone near you and you don't want the audience to hear what is being said. CUPPING prevents ALL sound from coming into the mic where as CUFFING DISTORTS the sound. Kapische?
