That's the way to go for sure. But you don't see the controls mounted there as much because it's really not the safest place for a driver. I have 5 dumps, but only 1 has the controls where you can operate it from the outside.

@@danwilson7776 you would be assuming wrong. I drove dump trucks for a living when I was young. I've also driven them in some very very rough places off the highway. Imagine the road being so bad that you have to be pulled by a bulldozer "downhill" a mile or so while loaded because the ruts were so deep the axle housings were dragging in the mud. Then having to be dragged by a bulldozer back up the road until you hit a half solid surface again.

Never knew there was so many dump truck drivers on KZread comments😂😂 I dump on more severe angles than that all the time. A professional has ways to rid the load out and keep truck vertical. What happened here was the way he was lined up with the tow vehicle. He pulled the dam thing at the angle it was tipping. If he was lined up properly, he could have got the load out when jerking forward.

QUESTION FOR TRUCK DRIVERS IN THE USA.....Isn't double trailers illegal in this scenario? I know freight is ok, but dump trailers? Thoughts?

Agreed. I cut my teeth on tippers 30 years ago here in the UK. We used to pull domestic waste (or garbage) with 14" high bulkers. When tipping on landfills a 360 would stick his bucket in the back to stop them going over. Then a D9 would drag you off, its at this point that many trailers ended up on their side. Scary stuff but I loved it! It seems to me that modern tipping gear is really slow, maybe smaller pumps? Whats your opinion?

Did the truck had a 10 L/minute hydraulic pump? If your going to un load, do it whit some determination and don't make it take ages on that angle.

I'd say he was bogged, couldn't pull forward, driver said well tip the dog, probably said it looks like it's gonna tip, driver said nah it will be right. Sometimes you just can't tell truck drivers

I guess the end result shows why you exit the truck to make sure your trailer is level before raising the box..
