A word of advice: Make your flue taller than the top of your van. Drafting stoves works better if the top of your flue is above any close structures. The taller your flue, the stronger the draft you will have. 👍

Yeah I'm a certified chimney sweep. And they are right , 3 feet taller than any objects within 10 feet . Awesome design try not to burn any pine if you can , hard wood at night may last the night too

There right make it taller
I positively love the independence and freedom from town that wood stove provides. Even in a worse-case scenario, your "cabin-on-wheels" would still be readily heated in the coldest parts of Oregon winters and allow you shelter and a means to warm and cook certain foods. Awesome work, Jason!
As a part time fabricator, I must say great Job! Equally as important was the ability to articulate the problems and solutions along the way.
Super cool! I have a dwarf4k in my cabin! The quality of your kit you made looks so good that you down the road could build them and sell them on your website! 👏 nice work Bud! Paul in Oregon
That mag drill is so sick.
Use a stove fan that you place on the top of the stove. It doesnt need any other energy than the heat the stove creates. It will make a big difference and heat up your van in no time. Only problem is that some of them makes a little noise.
Nice build. I am concerned about the intense heat that might melt or burn your inside door panel. Maybe a heat shield might work.

That is my only concern. I want one SO badly but I'm concerned about the heat from the sides and back. No big deal with a full size bus but if you have a truck with a diy slide-in camper, fire is an issue
Amazing metal fabrication. Well done!
Awesome build. If you had a double wall pipe, you could use a silicone stove jack to go through the panel in the window opening. That way you wouldn’t have any gap where cold air would enter.
Another vertical length of 4 inch insulated chimney should help draft the stove better.
Man, seeing all of those metal working tools looks fun. I’d like to get into metal working and make funky gadgets like window inserts for stoves inside vans. So cool, brilliant!
One word, frickin awesome, Yes I know that was two but who’s counting. How good is that plasma cutter, I think I would spend way too long just cutting shit on that table for the sake of it. Well done, I hope you get lots of time to enjoy it. Don’t forget to film it if you do.
That is a super cool set-up. Impressive that you made all the mounts as well. thanks for the video
The woodbox base turned out great!
Really like the wood stove! Out of curiosity, have you used a handheld CO2 monitor with a digital readout to see what CO2 levels exist inside the van while using the wood stove? I have recently tested CO2 Levels in my van using a buddy heater with multiple windows cracked open along with a fan to help circulate the air and my CO2 monitor consistently reads 4,500+ ppm CO2 levels with the buddy heater. Again just curious to see if anyone else out there has gathered CO2 readings inside their van while heating their van... Thanks!

Your readings might go down if you have one air intake and one air out window with a fan pulling air out. Having multiple windows open might not be creating that cross breeze needed to get the CO2 out.

CO or CO2? Big difference. Just curious. Thanks
I love the Woodstove install in the van. What a difference it has to make for you-not just warmth, but ambiance!I couldn’t live without my Woodstove in my house and in my cabin up north.I love the channel even more now.
For those who want one too. Turn around and search for a lavo stove instead. Hot-tenting gear is a LOT lighter. Not even half the weight, same heat.

I agree and disagree. Tent stoves are very light weight and do put out great heat while you have an active fire, but the thicker weight metal of a real stove will retain heat much longer providing warmth longer into the evening. Once a tent solve goes out it will go cold immediately. I have had the chance to use both and that is my experience. Given the choice I prefer the real stove in this situation, of course as there is with any choice in gear there is give and take. Jason
Thank you Jason!
Great job! I think you can go online and find the formula for draft. For every 90* turn there is an equivalent vertical length of pipe to keep the draft going.
Very well thought out Jason... Great fabrication skills.
Jason, the acquiring the skill set to to use tools/techniques to accomplish this job is nothing short of Excellent! Tools and material..this is how Proper Planning looks. Issues addressed and overcome. Checking available resources and adopting them into Plan. "What do I want it to do. How do I want it to function. How will I perform maintenance on it." Form Follows Function. Excellent demonstration and Presentation!
I think the idea of the wood stove in the Van is awesome. Especially if you're full-time. My opinion though is i would of went through the hightop with a long flu. Build it into the back seat area. Just my opinion. Love the Van though
Great addition to your already awesome van.
To improve draft, add another couple or 3 feet of vertical stovepipe outside… Nice installation. Very neat and functional.
That flue is massive! Nice project, well done. Thanks for sharing.
This whole install is genius! Bravo! 👋
Another clear concise presentation! You’re really acquiring some great fabrication equipment!
I'll tell you one thing you're going to name dropping. That's about it.

If you're going to critique someone at least be capable of typing a damn sentence.
Im thinking of installing one as a second heat source in my shuttle bus. Im impressed! Thanks for the video!
I love the wood stove in the camper van! it really turns it into alittle cabin!
Great job on fabricating the lower items first your stove. Nice set-up for cutting out your metal. Tweaking everything to maximize that draft took a while but it looks like you perfected it. Thanks for sharing this Jason.
Jason, you did an awesome job on your design. Very smart ideas you have for this project. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰👍👍👍👍👍
Incredible! You are a GENIUS!
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
I admire the work you have done ! (from Belgium here!)
Awesome I want one for my camper.
Looks so cozy inside 🤗
i like that its removable.
Yep, I really like that wood stove. It gives you a level of heating independence unattainable with propane only. Brilliant work on the design and fabrication, as well. Happy Camping!
Great Job Brother 👏 👍🏼 I saw you on Casey Ladelle's Channel ❤ Glad you broke down otherwise I might have missed your Channel.I just Subscribed ❤
True genius! Love it.
plasma table and fusion design are most impressive. well done!
Wow Jason absolute phenomenal build. You build a whole new van! You are a pro!
Awesome work
Impressive all the design and fabrication you undertook for this!
Nice job! I was impressed with the new equipment and your ability to build your idea, looking forward to seeing new ideas and other creations
that is a super clean look on that wood stove
Very nice - well done.
Amazing set of skills youve got there...
This is really cool. Nice job Jason. Looking forward to more projects featuring the plasma table and your fabrication skills.
It's amazing to think back just a short time ago I was watching you doing MrHeater reviews in a popup tent with the dogs. How far you've come with the channel and your adventures since then. Imagine where you'll be in 5 years.
I had a van in which I had a small wood stove. Yep it was awesome. Had to get permit from fire dept. and only ran when not driving.
Great. Now all I need are the tools and the fabrication skills. chuckles. Love your ideas.
Good point on preparedness....good to have multiple ways to cook/keep warm. Lets's see ...we have an induction hob, an air fryer/toaster oven combo, a propane stove top in our Kimbo and we carry a portable wood burning stove.
Nice touch jason
Thank you, that was genuinely very interesting!
Great job
Genius design Jason. I like it
Nice rig... Stove idea is great. Your tool collection is exceptional.
Another step towards the ultimate cabin in the woods on wheels.
Very nice install...
Great set up Jason! Thanks for walking us through the build. Really inspiring. No problems with the plastics in the dash or door panel getting too hot?

Very excellent job on your wood stove.
...cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Great starting image transition into video!
Very nice
I use the Gloy's Heat pal 5000 Swedish alcohol heater and cook stove safe. Origo 5100 other newer model.
That's your new business.
Looks good! I have a different brand small wood stove in my trailer, best investment ever. I had a couple of ideas for your set up. First, you can use a silicone boot to cover the chimney hole in your window, looks like a sizable gap there. Second, try using long kitchen spring-loaded tongs to add wood and adjust your fire. Stay warm out there, it's getting colder!
@PrimalOutdoors

I actually have the boot. I have been debating whether I should install or not. To be honest it's not been noticeable problem and I think it would just add more work to the setup. I will give it more testing and thought. Jason
If you make the outside chimney pipe higher it will increase the draw or draft.
Very Cool! Nice work.
👍👍👍👍👍😀, Through build, trouble shooting vlog.
From somebody who lived using a wood stove for 15 years. Wood is Good. If you have the fuel.. Nature provides it.
crazy man
I thought that piece you took out of the stove was to help with particulate emissions. A DEQ requirement for home installations. Someone told me new stoves sold in Oregon had to have one to meet DEQ requirements. Obviously not something you need to worry about for a van install.
How long of a burn time per load of wood do you get out of that stove? Great job on the fab work. Love the extra wood storage. Sometimes the miscalculations become one of the favorite attributes of a build.
