itsmaxchua he had a wide voice range. Normal voice was baritone as was his regular singing voice. 5 octive range...very rare.

I love how laid-back, informal, and respectful this interview is. This kind of thing is a lost art that you don't see often nowadays.

Thanks for watching our video, Josh, and for your comment. The interviewer was a very good friend, whom I'd known since 1971 in high school. He passed away about six years ago, so he cannot speak for himself regarding your opinion of his haircut from 1983 when this was taped. In defense of Wes, considering other hairstyles from 80's like mullets, mohawks, and women's big hair, it's pretty tame. Remember, Tiny Tim's haircut was very weird and shocking in the 60's when he first started performing, but now guys are wearing long hair again. It goes round and round. Thanks again for watching.

Galaxo I am sorry about the loss of your friend, Galaxo. Wes was so young here, and undoubtedly had an untimely passing. Cancer is awful. Chuck Finley's comment about Wes's hair is understandable. Even considering the year, 1983, the hairstyle is unique. It certainly is not wildly unpolular like a mullet, and not garish like "big hair"; it's more Puritanical, like a parson, with bangs in the rafters and not a single stray hair shaft, as if it was meticulously cut with a bowl and combed with a fork. Your explanation of it, and your information about your friend, helps us understand Mr. Wes Bailey. He is a great interviewer, casual and comfortable, and seemed to get Tiny Tim to speak of some uncommon topics, such as space age and the future (even if some of the topic transitions were rough as a pothole, like at 17:07). #TinyTim was an amazing soul (even if he didn't, apparently, own a comb). Mr. Bailey's dead-pan facial expression, an instantaneous flash, as Tiny warbles at 10:51 is priceless! I see from other videos that Mr. Bailey was a great performer, and had a sharp wit. Enjoyed making others laugh. A nice man. This is a great interview, and you are kind to post it, Galaxo. Huge number of "hits". I watched it three times myself. A great treasure, this film. Fabulous! Thank you so much.

This interview is one of a kind. I love that Wes Bailey gives Tiny Tim the freedom to talk and express himself. I would love to see more interviews by Mr. Bailey.

I'm fascinated by this guy

He was, Sam. He was in the middle of a midwest nightclub tour performing almost every night. This interview was videotaped early in the morning at the Cox Cable Public Access studio in Omaha. He had done two shows the night before at Club 89, and hadn't much voice left. We were just a small production company, but he was kind enough to schedule us in after Wes told him what big fans we were. Our video with him has over 14,000 views so he's still our lucky star! Good Bless Tiny Tim.

Blake X You’re making it sound as if he hit his wife frequently. He admitted to losing temper and laying his hand on her once, after years of getting mentally abused by her. It’s always inexcusable, no question, but he admitted to his mistake and the people involved moved on. You seem to be attempting to paint him up as a generally abusive person.

Actually what people don't realize is that his vocal range is incredible. He preferred to sing in a lower tone but it was so similar to Elvis that he didn't want to just be seen as a copy cat on he discovered he could sing a full range in a high register and added a ton of vibrato to make it unique. He knew that his singing technique was mocked and considered a novelty act but he enjoyed the music and fame in whatever form it came. I love this guy.

God Bless you Tiny Tim wherever you are. You touched my life and the world was a better place because of your presence.

I remember listioning to him on howard stern. They were goofing on him. But the more he spoke the more they liked him. I felt the same way. He was fantastic.

I love and respect Tiny Tim, his music made/makes me happy. I find him one of the most unique and talented people ever, too unique and talented for the masses, the masses like things that are usually terrible since the 60's. Only those artists that have minimal fame are any good it seems. He was so lucid an intelligent in this interview. I loved him.

Thank you, "ThatGuy" for the viewing hint. I uploaded our video with the original color bars and title for historical purposes. We produced this at one of the first public access cable channels in the Midwest. We signed up as a group, and recorded our weekly shows for Cox Cable Omaha in 1980. This was how they taught us to present a professional television show, as they were all produced at that time, beginning with 5 seconds of black, color bars, countdown and titles. I transferred the shows from the original 3/4 inch master tapes. All ten of our cable public access shows are here on my Galaxo channel to enjoy. Thanks for watching.

Also, considering Mr. Tim AND our interviewer, Wes Bailey have BOTH passed on, it seems some people have absolutely no respect for the dead.

Thank you for the kind comment. I agree with you about his voice. We've been friends since high school, and later professional theater in Omaha, then Chicago. he was also a great singer, too. Sadly, Wes passed on in 2007 after a long battle with lung cancer. Luckily, we have many of his performances on film and tape. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. We were so lucky to get this interview, being just a Public Access TV show in Omaha, Nebraska. Wes had gone to see him perform just the previous night, and had the balls to go backstage afterwards to ask him to be on our shows. The rest is all on the video, except the memorable part after the show, when I got to meet him, too.

I must admit years ago, I thought he was a a comedian and his act a joke. This interview reveals a very intelligent man who was in touch with the musical muses.

Thank you so much Galaxo, for posting this; what a treat! You know, this was the very first time I saw Tiny Tim wear jeans and what appears to be retro earth shoes. Like you, I also first saw him on Laugh In and have been a fan ever since. R.I.P., Tim and Wes.

One of the problems I've always had was growing to love and respect people through their works that have already passed on.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tiny Tim in the early 80s, and was indeed a cool guy, like another commenter said. A very down to earth humble person, a talented artist of the type you just can't find today. What other famous personality could you find riding a greyhound bus???

There are some incredible interviews to be found on YT Tiny did on the Howard Stern Show. Howard was intrigued by Tiny's cleaning routine. Hearing Tiny describe how to properly clean a sink is fascinating.

Wow! Tiny Tim really don't sound like The Tiny Tim high pitched voice. He really is down to earth and smart. To be honest I think of Andy Kaufman watching him speak. Truly a great person. Thanks for the upload Galaxo...

Would love to have heard him sing more of the very old songs, from 1920s era. He had a REAL gift that went beyond his unique persona of the time.

This interview is a joy to watch, Wes is the perfect interviewer and I can watch and listen to Tiny Tim for hours. In fact I watched this whole thing again the day after watching it for the first time.

I kind of get a Joe Spinell vibe from him. A kind, soft-spoken, misunderstood genius of performing.

I remember listening to several radio interviews of Tim by a popular local radio talk show host in the 80's and 90's. I was initially stunned because the concept that I had of him which had been constructed while watching his performances early in his career was completely opposite the impression of him while being interviewed. I was absolutely stunned at how intelligent and thoughtful he was and he was truly a musical genius with a seemingly photographic memory when it came to much older music dating back into the early 1900's. But my 2 most lasting impressions of the man was of how genuinely nice and caring he was at all times. The other impression was the fact that when you hear his story, it quickly becomes evident that he has been preyed upon and taken advantage by people such as managers and promoters throughout his adult life. He made a LOT of money for other people throughout his career and he rarely had much to show for it when all was said and done. I believe in the last years of his life he was struggling to just make ends meet and keep a roof over his head. What a shame that the industry took so much from such a good man. RIP Tiny Tim.

Gene Simmons sounds like an arrogant, narcissistic and completely out of touch person who is a wet-brain from being drunk on his own wealth and fame. Tiny Tim sounds like a humble, intelligent and insightful artist who found what he loved and shared the love. Perhaps the accent a bit, but inflection, intent, timing and cadence are all dissimilar to that lowlife fool with a large tongue who can hold a guitar with elevator-soled boots. Rest In Peace Tiny Tim. Gene Simmons, stop adding toxicity to our world.

So interesting to hear about Tiny Tim. I don't think most people are aware of what he was really like.

I just discovered this video, almost 13 years after it was posted - thank you for sharing it. Like most, I just thought of Tiny Tim as the oddball who did the "Tulips" song, but recently I've been learning more about him, and seeing interviews like this have been incredibly informative. The host mentions seeing Tiny's live performances over two nights, and the setlist for each being almost unique, 30-40 different songs each night... This is the side of Tiny Tim that I wish there was more documentation of. By those in the business his incredible knowledge of early pop music was really respected, and it would be great to have had more recordings of this huge variety of material he had memorized and performed. The Luna Park Marathon is the best example I have seen so far, but I sense it was the tip of the iceberg in terms of his catalogue. It seems unfortunate in some ways that he is only known for his biggest hit. But this interview provides some insight into his greater talent - thank you for that!

I never appreciated Tiny Tim when I was younger. Now I see he is an amazing repository of musical information as well as a real performer. In all honesty, he’s not my cup of tea but gee, he was clearly a phenomenal talent. Intelligent, articulate reflective and authentic. I’m going to take him more seriously.

WOW, for someone that you say was baked he was very articulate and just a treat to listen to, his voice is a LOT deeper than I had ever imagined as Tip Toe was probably the only song I really knew of his, and it was always higher pitched. GREAT interview and I truly regret never being able to see him perform at all. Thank you for this great insight into a true legend.
