Tiny Tim's TV Debut
The most iconic character ever introduced to the American Television Viewing Audience, was named Tiny Tim. He looked weird, sounded strange and had bizarre mannerisms. He made his TV debut 50 years ago on the series premiere of Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In on January 22, 1968.
This video is presented under the Fair Use allowance of Title 17 U.S.C. Section 107 of the US Copyright Law for the purpose of advancing the historical understanding and significance this event had on the nation’s fledgling television industry and its role in providing free entertainment to millions of people who would otherwise go without.

Tiny Tim's act has aged well, with much of Laugh-Ins audience being like Dan Rowan, a WW2 vet, you knew you were going to get a little smarm ," kept him out of the army, heh, heh" But let's face it, if his act wasn't unique, he wouldn't have been there. That said, Dick Martin acting like he was in actual pain, was funny. But the one most in on the joke, was as always Tiny Tim himself.

I'm also a musician, and here's a story you can probably relate to. My brother (drums) and best friend (bass) did a gig with Tiny Tim at a local hotel back in the 90's. They rehearsed with him for a couple of hours and learned a bunch of songs (old, obscure ones from the 20's & 30's - no sheet music, by the way, just all by ear). Then after rehearsal, he tells them "I might play these songs, but then again, I might not", which scared the sh*t out of this pick-up band, especially considering the place would be packed with 500 people! So, they go on stage that night, and Tiny Tim is just launching into obscure song after song - few of which they rehearsed - sort of stream of consciousness! Talk about sweating it out! (The band had very good ears, luckily.) They said he was really a very nice guy, but a genuine weirdo. But, yes, he was a talented guy.

I am old enough to remember when this came out on laughing and it was wonderful and he put out several albums that were also wonderful
This guy Is a Legend 💯
It is funny how they laughed at him but by the end they wanted more. He really knew how to win over a cynical crowd.
I've heard he was raised listening to music from the 20s and that's kinda the way it sounded
Such a great and talented soul
as odd as he was he was devoted to the old songs he performed & he perforned them relatively straight.
