    This is more realistic. Tiny houses are for people whom have active jobs or lifestyles and don't spend anytime at home. Small homes are ideal for families whom want to spend more time together but don't want to break the bank. I'm fond of small homes/cottages. Just seems more like realistic living.

    Nice. I like how the difficulties are discussed realistically. No closets, the inability to hang pictures, TVs on the walls, the difficulty in putting furniture of any height against the arched walls, these are important things to know, which I would never have given any thought to.

    You know I have been trying to get into tiny homes for years, but I think this may just be perfect. It is not crowded, it is affordable, easy to customize and really spacious. I imagine one could even do up to 3 bedrooms in something that big if they had a smaller kitchen and living room or put in a full set of stairs and put two bedrooms upstairs. GREAT WORK! I appreciate what you do and please keep going. I have been watching for years, but this really compelled me to comment.

    I want one of these so bad, but fighting the restrictions in even smaller townships in TX, plus, getting qualified help to put it all together is a nightmare. I'm handicapped, and by myself, so just not able to do it myself. Wish I knew someone on TX Gulf Coast who could do this work. I think it's a great set up for you, and family though. Lots of hands!

    Dominick White I've looked into the shipping container homes people have made. If the container is used it's usually fairly cheap. of course the size affects price too. 3 containers at 40 foot long makes for good space at 8 feet wide each.

    In World War II they called those quonset huts. U.S. Navy Seabees could put entire communities of them together quickly. They lasted a lot longer than canvas tents. The Marines were shown still using them for barracks in the TV show "Gomer Pyle, USMC", which took place in the 1960s.

    It's not easy to bend it the other way, A heavy weight machine is needed. I would expect snow buildup to be quite substantial in it's present form.

  • @Well_possibly

    @Well_possibly

    7 жыл бұрын

    spex357 Good point. For snow it needs to be strong and also easy enough to remove snow or prevent the build-up in the first place. About strength, I would have to have an engineer tell me a tree falling on it wouldn't be dangerous. I'm not sold by on that idea just by the owner saying she's not worried about it.

  • @spex357

    @spex357

    Ribbed is strong by design, even running horizontally, especially with the Steel frame underneath. Building with what is readily available locally, is a good recipe. I wouldn't be worried about snow as I live in Devon UK and the pesky Gulf Stream means it rarely falls.

    I think it would be cool to take this building and make a green house on one side with clear panels and a underground heating system like they us in a green house. the side connecting to the living area would have large sliding doors that could be opened. a woodburning cookstove could be used to heat as well, and cook on. the pipe could go out the greenhouse roof to help warm the greenhouse as well. You would be living almost in your greenhouse.

    We are actually thinking of doing one of these, and I appreciate the really detailed look at everything. I never thought about closet space. We live in N Idaho and have sometimes big snow loads and need good insulation so that is another thing to think about. Thanks for asking so many questions.

    i prefer a small house to a tiny cabin. most small homes will come equip with the same things of a large full scale home, tiny homes have to be specifically altered.

  • @InfernosReaper

    Small homes are definitely a lot easier to work with while costing around the same because they don't need as much specialty bits. With tiny homes, you really need to put RV/mobile fixtures in where possible and the smallest stuff when not. Ya also gotta make sure you have enough space for everyone. Too many people try to fit too much in too small of a space and it causes all sorts of problems. It's a challenge that requires a lot of work to balance movement space and living essentials space. Some examples I've seen are fantastic, while most do dumb things like putting a 6x12 bathroom in a 12x28 space, even though a full-sized bathroom could fit in half that space.

    This is one of the choices I looked into, no bug problems for sure, but rusting could be a concern, but if they do anti rust coating and a very good paint job it is a great choice. I look at the round versions as well! They go up really fast and the space is very good!

  • @InfernosReaper

    @InfernosReaper

    A good paint job is itself an anti-rust coating. And that's all assuming it's not a rust-resistant material like galvanized steel. Either way, if you seal it up decently, it'd be fine.

    Interesting and it looks to be well done. I'm afraid I'm pretty spoiled and used to more space than I need. However looking forward I believe a lot of us are going to find out just how spoiled we were as we end up living in smaller quarters. If one could pay for a few acres and have access to local utilities for about $35-40k you could have your septic, electricity and dish TV/internet. That's if you're really fortunate. Nice for this lady to share...

    Saucy Chica why did you say that? Glory blessings from God?? you did that because of her screen name?? that's really low... why is it that Christian people have to do that, either subtle or very hatefully to the people who chose to not be sheeple, who have their own opinion and feelings on religion. guess what? not everyone has to agree or follow what you do... i find it very odd, that ppl who claim to be loving Christian folks, turn really mean, really quickly, if you're an atheist or agnostic. why don't you just go on happily believing in what makes you happy, and treat others the same way you want to be treated
