    I absolutely agree with everything she says. We are elderly and preparing our home for sale, and will have a tiny home built sometime this summer. Finding a place to put it is the difficult part. I don’t want to live in an RV park, but I’ll take what I can get for now because the cost of owning a larger home is rapidly becoming completely prohibitive, especially for the young and the senior citizen. Property taxes and insurance, as well as greatly increased utilities are driving owners out of their homes. Tiny homes everywhere are desperately needed!

    This is the absolute truth. I've lived in a car because of not being able to afford anything, someplace to call home was a dream, and I'm far from being alone with that circumstance.

    Yes! I’m in same situation as you are…preparing to sell my traditional home of 23 years for my “retirement” tiny home with a downstairs sleeping area.. Searching for a spot in Southeastern USA is challenging. Good luck on your search!

    You are 100% correct, my home insurance, taxes, electricity, water and even car insurance have all gone up substantially to the point that it doesn't make sense to keep the home even while is rented. I am in the process of selling it, continue with my RV and buying unrestricted land to build my retirement home for when the time comes.

    So is space rent depending on where you live. Plus you have management to deal with. Mini tyrants. I ended up buying my own land cash in Oklahoma and there was already a mobile home on it that's just a two-bedroom two-bath so it's almost a tiny house. I'm much happier. I don't like rules unless I made them. LOL

    I live in Washington state and basically even in Sticks and Bricks structure it's kind of the code you have to be able to walk in a loft area in order for it to be suitable for sleeping I think especially because they're high up in an emergency situation you need to be able to run or possibly flee out of the egress window things of that nature and they're worried the fact that you might have to crawl to the window might slow you down enough that's my understanding why they don't like sleeping Lofts that are not standable or walkable in tiny homes

  • @loriannrichardson7644

    @loriannrichardson7644

    Why not just require 2 means of egress from the loft? It's a bit confusing because I live on the east coast, and sleeping lofts are relatively common. I lived in an apartment with a sleeping loft, also, it's possible to purchase loft beds. 🤔

    @@loriannrichardson7644 even though technically tiny houses are legal you have the issues of both the city bureaucrats and the county bureaucrats requiring certain things some of them feel that even though you either have one or two egress windows if you can't walk it cannot be considered safe for sleeping you have to be fully able to stand now there are some further north and further west portion of the states that would allow that but unfortunately those of us who are in the main part of Washington particularly the areas that connect to Oregon directly and also Canada those seem to be the case just like for example typical kitchens and tiny homes are a No-No to for example they require that you have to have a garbage disposal some of them require that you have to have a full at least apartment size appliances so a stove with an oven full size refrigerator there's other places that require that you have to have a dishwasher see a lot of places and what I really think it is they have a hard time trying to figure out how to tax it so certain areas come up with BS rules and that's one of the issues another issue that they have with the Lofts is if you can't walk around it cannot be legally considered ADA Compliant

    I totally agree. I think the resistance is bc theyd not make as much money or taxes using land that way sadly. Seattle is very tiny home friendly and allows them in peoples yards.

    Government and builders do not want tiny homes because they lose money. The government Loses tax money because the houses cost less. builders because because the houses cost less to build. I think that’s a big part of it. Because when you think about it Tiny makes since in so many ways. Affordability, smaller footprint on the Earth, It’s better for the environment & The use of resources, it would help with the housing crisis that is going on in our country now there are so many people so many families that are homeless. It is a scary time for a lot of people now with the housing crisis right now. And it’s so sad that the government will not do some thing so Practical as tiny homes to alleviate this problem. But it all comes back to the money that certain Entities would lose if they made it easier for people to have tiny homes. Just one woman’s opinion.

    How do you find a place that accepts Tiny Homes? There are many cities that dont allow them or even counties that have no facilities that permit the Tiny Homes. We are looking for California, any place near hospital facilities in case of emergencies.

    I found it frustrating. I really wanted to see more of her loft. It looked like it was standing height along one side, but I couldn't tell for sure. And she never showed us her kitchen. I'm glad that there is going to be another video with a tour of it. I subscribed just for that reason.
