I purchased my 2022 18M Thor (RIZE) in May of 2021. I love the size, it's loaded but here are the issues we have had. The awning beeped the minute we left the showroom NO ONE had answers and it wasn't batteries (told to replace over and over). It was bad wiring from Thor when installed. The water pump and filter were not secured to the wall. They were just hanging behind walls. The generator stopped working w/only a few hours on it. The gas line was so long it needed a second pump. Additionally, the generator had about a inch clearance. I don't know how this got past me but first trip we found out because I couldn't clear things it easily should. I have spent $400 for awning, $900 for extra generator line pump & labor, $300 to secure filter and pump and will need to spend $3000 to lift it 3 inches. Thor will only pay $225 for labor. So, know what you are getting into with this unit.

The installed solar and the AC trump the other one completely...if older that tight of an upper is no go..I think the storage above front could handle bedding. Was Matt expecting a porcelain cassette toilet?🤣 Did you mention the CCC? Wish you would have talked more about the components - what's under the bed? Is the fresh water tank inside? How much solar was on the roof? Where are the batteries and inverter (would it be easy for the buyer to upgrade to lithium)? This is a perfect layout for a solo traveler - wish they gave the dimensions of the bed without pulling out - curious if it's wide enough to use it like a twin without pulling it out.

Thank you for not time laspsing the bed 🤣😂. This van is adorable!!! I'd love it as my daily driver. I would put a tablet sized tv on the pantry wall. It can be viewed while in bed or in the swivel seats. Now let's talk about that bed.. Small van equals single person. So why not focus a quality single bed instead of always trying to make it into a queen? 🤷 I mean, they could have a very comfortable full sized mattress sunken inside the couch. Just toss the cushions up front and roll out your sleeping bag. Or put Velcro on them and stick them to the ceiling 🤔 anyway.. all three of my dislikes are in the bed. There are a thousand other ways to create it if they would just get the queen sized bed out of their builds.

There are two relevant Facebook pages. One is for the Thor Rize or Scope 18M (Thor seems to use both names and also has an 18T without a bathroom). I like the fact the fridge is accessible from the outside. You can grab a cold drink or food for cooking out side without tracking dirt in. I wish they could come up with some way to incorporate the front seats ( folding all the way down) to help make part of the bed. Have no idea how you would do it, but would really save on space in a tiny vehicle.

If the curtain is not properly sealing the shower area water could splash on the electrical outlets and the cabinets. The bed is a puzzle to make. Very little storage. The truck itself being a front wheel drive Fiat. Price is to expensive for what you get, a small class C is better. Likes: None. Thanks for your review, I really enjoy your honesty.

First Matt, Andrea and Will, love your reviews, especially liked your class b change of heart video. I am leaving this comment in the hopes that Thor does read the comments because a few minor changes to this van and it could be the greatest mobile lounge #vanlife short van ever. Similar floor plan to the carrado, which I always found to be super efficient. 1. Get rid of the generator, in the days of awesome big alternators throw two decent house batteries in, a solar charge controller and an alternator that can charge the batteries while driving and you’ll have all the power you need. 2. For the sake of Matt, change the sofa to a jackknife, you put them in a lot of your class c’s, it should not add that much weight to put one in this. Most people are not going to full time in this so make the seating comfortable and people can use a mattress topper to make it more comfortable. Theses changes would make a huge difference. I love this design, keep up the good work.

Bathroom is great but that bed is impossible. Good solution would be an integrated tent system that would attach to the door and could be used as a bedroom.

Leather Jackknife sofa, lithium batteries, under hood generator, on a Ford Transit which has so many more safety features than the Promaster plus an awd option. That would knock it outta park for me. Would pay the extra money for those upgrades...

To have a bath or not to have a bath. That is the question. I still like the one with only an emergency toilet, although I would skip the pop-top as we have no grandchildren. This one is not really amenable to more than one person. The other could easily accommodate a couple. I like the ability to park in a car space. If you have the money I like the one built in Canada best.

Nice van very similar to a Coachman van traveller we had. Our sofa was similar to a toy hauler sofa from the garage. You just had to roll the back over and the bed was ready. I'm not good at Tetris either and I would just put the cushions anywhere. I think I would try to change it out.

As a solo traveler searching for my first RV...I like this for the bathroom and it being 18ft. I think since it would be just me, I'd leave the couch as is, add a topper and make it up like a twin bed & leave it that way. I see no real storage for a couple of larger items like a camping chair. Oh...and fat thighs? That would be me...and like the adjustable table. All the comments about the low generator are scaring me away though. I don't pretend to know of RV issues but I'm hearing these concerns loud and clear.

People are concerned about the clearance when it leaves the pavement...this vehicle is not made to leave the pavement. It is a street vehicle and dirt roads with uneven grading or large holes should be avoided. If you want an off-road Class B van to travel more rustic areas, then look at the Winnebago Revel. It was built for that purpose.

I love this campervan, I live in a condo and need a shorter van to fit in my parking space, this would be perfect. BUT, I would want the 18M with a pop top, I'd like the microwave to be a convection one and I'd also like the option to upgrade to Lithium. I have my fingers crossed these will be possible options down the road. Thanks for the tour!

I don't have any dislikes. This is actually perfect for me. The Thor 20K was my favorite floorplan up until seeing this model. The setup is similar, just smaller overall, with a bit less storage. I live pretty minimally, so the storage is fine IMO, and I like the idea of a shorter vehicle, and I like the cassette toilet. So this is everything I want. I saw the model with no shower and no...this one is the best.

Matt complained about this 18M model with the bathroom having less storage space than the 18T model without a bathroom. It seems not to have occurred to him that the space needed to add a bathroom had to come from somewhere.

I think it is close to perfect for a solo traveler. I would use the bed as a single and not make it out. Maybe just a sleeping bag on it. Generator is too low would be the major issue for me - Can you imagine it on a gravel/rutted road? Needs a custom rolef bug screen. Who needs a big tv with a laptop or iPad? Love the size of the van inside and out!!

  • @zonacrs

Agreed, I would probably never pull out the bed and use it as a single. Also agreed on the tv vs. laptop or tablet, even at 60+ I'd rather do that. Would definitely add a cell signal booster. This thing has everything a solo traveler needs except ground clearance. The Promaster chassis has limited lift options due to the tiny wheel wells, particularly the front. You can find "3 inch lift kits" all day long but none of them will clear a 3" taller tire, that nets a 1.5" gain in ground clearance, without offset wheels and major hackery of the front wheel wells. The Promaster chassis is limited to grated roads and developed parks unfortunately, so you have to plan accordingly. This short wheelbase 1500 can probably go more places, with caution, than we give it credit for but is limited by the straight rear axle beam and low mounted generator. Really wish Ram would up their ground clearance with the chassis. As is, no matter the brand, Promaster based RV's are soft roaders at best.

🤔 the bathroom is nice but so many buts. The best part about that bed was watching Matt wrestling with it! 🤣 I really like the cabinetry. I really like the solar, but how well does it work? I really like the awning too. The clearance under the generator is worrisome. The screen was not good. No space for a tv? I would not really miss a tv but it seems like there are a lot of people who would. What about connecting to the internet? Did I miss that part is there a Wi-Fi extender? Because no tv and no connectivity is definitely not good. It seems like this needs some tweaking . It’s just too dang short for everything to fit. Thanks for another great review!
