You should try installing a handle on the ball value to release the air faster for more distance. By the way I used your videos to make my cannon thanks for the reference. But i did screw the barrel into the ball valve.

I've build these 20 years ago as tennis ball launcher. Word to the wise, SCH 40 is much safer repeated use if you stay within 100-120 psi MAX. This is why that bait cannon was ultimately released using a metal chamber.

You can also build these using a sprinkler valve tapped with a air blaster gun, as your trigger which moves the diaphram inside the valve causing the chamber to release the air.

Hi there . I love your design and are keen to have a crack at building one but I'm in New Zealand so our measurements are slightly different. I have a question around your barrel . It's only 1.5 inches in diameter right and 2/3 feet long, right? Why so thin? 1.5 is tiny . Does the thinner barrel give you further distance or is it just to house the bait assembly? Thanks.

So mr woods to table can I make a suggestion it’ll increase your chances of landing a fish when you use your bait cannon whenever you got leftover bait fish frames fish guns anything really you wanna put it all in a. Big blender and maybe even mix in a little fish oil too then with that super blended stuff you use that in place of water for your bait mold as when it melts it creates a big oily smelly slick in the water that attracts all the fish to your main bait

I think I heard you say once that you are in North Carolina and so am I. Are there any issues I you have come across I should know about prior to my first use? Thanks

Use a bead blaster tank instead...and get a quality battery powered air pump...you can use a 2” barrel so you can get a whole (small) fish in the barrel...and you can use a 10’ barrel...I use scuba tanks...

Milwaukee m12 air compressor would fill you to 120 in minutes multiple times. Light and easy to carry

How much does this cost

What do you do when you assemble the whole thing and then find a leak during the pressure test? How do you fix the leak?

A little “keeper” (tension) screw. It helps hold the barrel in place.

Add a pressure gauge. Then use a co² bike tire filler. Probably want the 25g co² cartridges, but experiment to see what brings you up to pressure without waste. No more pumping. 😁 Warning ⚠️ ☠️!! Fill slowly 🐌!! You don't want to freeze the PVC, and make it brittle. You could also use a PCP air tank from paint ball. With the regulator, it would charge the system to the desired PSI, and no more. They're essentially a tiny scuba tank, various sizes.

Only things I can think of are the air valve and the keeper screw that helps hold the barrel in place. Great job on the build! Best of luck on the shore.

Get a Jackery® charge Station and use a small airbrush compressor to charge the chamber instead of breaking your back pumping that hand pump.

Get a car jump starter, air compressor combo. You can also charge your phone while you're out there.

Ryobi makes a tire inflator.

Also have you guys considered using drones?

I was going to reply that they are illegal in NC. Turns out I was wrong. You can spot and drop bait with a drone. "§ 14‑401.24. Unlawful possession and use of unmanned aircraft systems. (a) It shall be a Class E felony for any person to possess or use an unmanned aircraft or unmanned aircraft system that has a weapon attached. (b) It shall be a Class 1 misdemeanor for any person to fish or to hunt using an unmanned aircraft system. (c) The following definitions apply to this section: (1) To fish. - As defined in G.S. 113‑130, except when an unmanned aircraft or unmanned aircraft system is used during, immediately preparatory to, or immediately subsequent to the taking of fish for (i) spotting; locating; recording, broadcasting, or streaming video of fish; or (ii) deploying bait. "

Is it really a lot less work? that pumping up of the baitcannon seems like quite a bit of work. Still cool. Make a Pepsi and Mentos powered one or baking soda and vinegar would be cheaper or better still a gun powdered one!!

Use ABS please 🙏 pvc degrades very fast in the sun and shatters if malfunction.

Why don't you get an empty gas canister (Propane to you lot at the other side of the pond, and modify it so it can be charged off an air compressor and used as a portable refill rather than spend ages pumping it up, bit big this example but you get the idea, here in the UK we have small ones about 4.5kg size kzread.info/dash/bejne/pYBryberoqmXpaw.html

Nothing wrong with one per se, I just haven’t come across one strong enough to fill the tank repeatedly to a high enough pressure to suit me. I’ve tested a bunch of them.

You could use a layer of dry ice in the bottom of the cooler near the bait, and cardboard to separate it from everything else. All day would be challenging though.
