TINTAGEL CASTLE CORNWALL | AMAZING full tour of Tintagel Castle, home of King Arthur

TINTAGEL CASTLE CORNWALL | AMAZING full tour of Tintagel Castle, home of King Arthur
We visit this magical castle on the cliffs of Cornwall in Tintagel Village, to head across the bridge, through the castle grounds, down to the beach and sea and merlins cave and more. Come with me as explore this amazing Cornish tourist destination.
Tintagel Castle is a dramatic medieval fortification located on the cliffs of North Cornwall, England. It's dramatically built half on the mainland and half on a jagged headland jutting out into the Cornish Sea. The castle ruins themselves date back to the 13th century, but there is evidence of a settlement on the site that dates back much earlier, possibly even to the Roman era.
Tintagel Castle is a dramatic ruined castle perched on the Cornish cliffs. It has 13th century remains and possible Roman connections. Legendary tales link it to King Arthur. Explore ruins, a church, and a grand hall, all with epic ocean views. A new bridge recently reunited the castle halves for the first time in centuries! Must-see in Cornwall! Wear comfy shoes, the sea can be wild.
Tintagel Castle is perhaps best known for its legendary association with King Arthur. Geoffrey of Monmouth, a chronicler writing in the 12th century, was the first to claim that Tintagel was the site of Arthur's conception and that his magical sword, Caliburn, was forged there. While there's no historical evidence to support these claims, the legends have helped to make Tintagel a popular tourist destination.
Even without the Arthurian legends, Tintagel Castle is still a fascinating place to visit. The castle ruins offer stunning views of the coastline, and there are a number of interesting archaeological features to explore, including the remains of a church, a great hall, and a courtyard.
Tintagel Castle was recently reunited in 2019 after a new footbridge was built, spanning a 190-foot gorge and reconnecting the two halves of the castle for the first time in over 500 years. The bridge follows the line of the original route that was long lost to erosion.
Here are some reasons why you should visit Tintagel Castle:
The castle is located on a dramatic headland with incredible views of the Cornish coastline.
The site has been occupied for centuries, and there is evidence of a settlement there from the Romano-British period.
Tintagel Castle is associated with the legend of King Arthur, which makes it a popular destination for fans of Arthurian mythology.
Tintagel castle ruins include the remains of a church, a great hall, and a courtyard. The recently built footbridge allows visitors to explore both halves of the castle for the first time in centuries.
If you're looking for a beautiful and historic place to visit in Cornwall, Tintagel Castle is a great option. Just be sure to wear sturdy shoes, as there is a lot of walking involved. Also be aware that due to coastal erosion, English Heritage has launched a fundraising campaign to protect the castle.

Watching Tintagel Sunday night on TV with my daughter. That bridge was very scary. When we went back in the 70s ,my sister in law and i had to climb the stairs on the rock while my husband and his brother went down to merlin's cave.Everything seems safer ,and seeing the village in another video ,more cafes etc for tourists. This is a lovely video.I don't remember seeing all the areas you covered.Thanks😊.

I do love Tintagel. I have only been once but it was so atmospheric. We went in the middle of June a few years ago for my 40th birthday as it was somewhere I wanted to visit that hadn't seen before but it was so windy that they closed it for safety measures just one hour later and yet the day before temperatures got up to 30 degrees. It is such an atmospheric location and normally I can get quite bad vertigo but managed the bridge okay just didn't look down lol. Thank you Neil for filming it

£20 for one adult to visit the ruins of the castle. You can guarantee there's not many places in England where english heritage owns it. And don't have a price on it . I mean, I can understand the cost of maintenance and things like that, but it shouldn't be £20 every time it should be like a toll road where it gets paid for eventually and then it's free. Or is reduced to only £5 per adult I mean the price is absolutely ridiculous. Could you imagine if you were a family with 2 adults and 2 children?🤔🇬🇧
