Honestly I haven't seen a young actor with acting chops that hold up to the big dogs since Jack Gleeson and Charles Dance were in Game of Thrones together. Here's this fresh face acting alongside big names like Oscar Isaac, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgard, Josh Brolin, and Jason Mamoa. And in every scene, he didn't feel out of place. What blew me away was the scene with him and Charlotte during the Gom Jabbar. It was a few lines and exchanging facial expressions, but the scene started with her being the dominant presence, and ended with him being the dominant presence. The score and cinematography really helped it land, but for him to pull this off when he was even personally intimidated by Charlotte's presence was superb. A bright future indeed.

@@webx135 I’d agree with his ability to hold up to others performances and yes he’s very talented but all I can say is give the rest of his generation time I mean look at Lucas Hedges, a phenomenal performer. Particularly give the the the 16-25 bracket time, they’re just kids. It takes roughly ten years or more to crack into the industry -I have a brother who’s at a top drama school right now over here in the UK and let me tell you the calibre and quality of talent is staggering. These young adults in and around I’d say 18-26 are just incredible at what they do, I promise this isn’t just a proud bother talking, I’m always a harsh but fair critic. They have consistently shown a level of skill and technical understanding which matches any actor working in that ensemble. I used to think it was paradoxically both entirely about luck and also that only a divine few were destined to be top industry performers in any given field. I now realise that particularly with something like acting once you get to a certain level the abundance of quality talent is almost heartbreaking. Believe me having been on this journey with him since he was a teen I can confidently say that at a certain level the margins are minuscule, the deciding factors whimsical and the outcomes impossible to predict. Outfits like variety and vanity fair etc want to sell you this idea that it’s a chosen golden gene that these people have but in truth it’s the marriage of preparation and opportunity that leads to lucky breaks. Chalamet was kicking around chipping away for a decade prior to his breakout. Celebrate the good and give time and patience to those still chipping away. There’s more where it came from :)

So true tho man. Like - doing some shows or commercials or whatever- is one thing - but being the LEAD in a massive-massive-massive movie - and at that age!? Absolutely those pitfalls are out there, and you can see that it’s right there beneath the surface, and so to have someone like Denis there as a great example of talent and humble pie, it’s gotta be nice.

Okay, So, I just watched Dune and it was really good......That being said.....I have never ever read the book and I never ever saw the 1984 Dune movie. So, Since I saw this movie, I decided to watch the 1984 movie and read the book. Here's a little bit of Trivia......Kyle Mclaughlin and Timothee Chalemet both play Paul Atreides in their respective movie, Kyle in 1984, Timothee in 2021. And as it turns out BOTH played the part at the age of 25. I hope there is more to come. It would suck to only get Dune Part one.

The 1984 movie was trash. Don’t bother, especially now that you have seen this.

I used to think Timothy was annoying/immature in interviews and not well casted as Laurie. But, I have to admit he can act! For being so young, I don’t know how he learned it so fast!

I bet (by the look on his face when the young actor was talking) that Villeneuve did not understand half of what Timotee said.

@@ninawildr4207 I could if I listen to it a second time. Honestly Timotehee speaks so fast and makes so many references to morality, philosophical ideas and similar ideas in a single phrase (that said, I mean the kid is smart, really smart) that makes life very difficult for the rest of us.

It captured the tone. And the internal dialogue voice over helps understand what's going on. But it didn't follow the book as closely.

"Lots of sand"... This has to be a troll. The movie is about a conflict involving a desert planet.
