Zendaya only said it was weird because the interviewer said Timmy said it was weird even though Timmy specifically said he didn't want to say it was weird. Z and Timmy were about to start dating before Tom saw that and made the move just after Z got cast in Dune and helped Timmy with his apartment. If Tom hadn't done that Timmy and Z would definitely be dating by now.
