I just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I recently tackled this job on a 2009 Kia Spectra. The part that really helped me out the most was the part where you were adjusting the top cam by loosening that bolt. I actually had to do this on my vehicle because the lower harmonic balancer was lined up on the TDC mark, but it was off by a few degrees on top. After wrestling and wrangling with it for the better part of a day and into the evening making that adjustment made the car fire right up. The instructions were clear I loved how you did step by step, and it just worked out great. Thank you! You probably saved me about $800 to $1,000 at a local shop.

Yoo I’m doing this job too but only replacing the belt do I still have to take the tire out to change the belt .

I just need my water pump changed and this look still looks like way too much work.

God, I am so glad I don't have to do this right now, very complex for a first timer. However, I'll just keep watching over and over until it becomes embedded into my subconscious mind.

Just finished the 160K timing belt swap on my 2007 Spectra including the water pump, accessory belts and oil seals (and hoses, thermostat, plugs, wires and valve cover gasket and seals) . This video and your narration were indispensable. I have both the Chilton and Haynes manuals for this car and their instructions don't hold a candle to your video. Thank you very much.

Appreciate the video. I'm on the fence regarding doing this job for a friend who is $1 from being Homeless. Has a 2007 KIA Sprectra with 40K miles. Extremely neglected car. I looked at the timing belt and it's got lots of fine cracks. My friend seems to appreciate nothing and nobody. So it's a tough decision for me to do the timing belt for him or just let him drive it and hope it doesn't break. God forbid if I did something wrong, he'd blow a gasket.

What size of wrenches are you using on this? And I can't see clearly on where you use the long neck extention.

What are the symptoms of a bad timing belt, I have code P0016 and it makes a clunking noise when I rev it up and won’t let me go over 40mph, could this be it?

Hello, I have KIA Spectra 2007 EX. I have a noise coming like grrrr when when I drive the car and it slows down and disappears when the car is parking but the engine still running. The water pump polly has some waving movement when the engine is running. Also, there is squentisng noise from the belts on starting the engine that disappears after few seconds. I also have a mild noise when I start steering the steering wheel to sides. One mechanic is advising me to change the water pump polly only with the belts ( l have the AC belt is cracked). Another mechanic is advising me to change the water pump itself in addition to the waving polly of the water pump and the belts of course.. The first mechanic is asking for $300 while the second is asking for $750 and aiming at changing the timing belt “by the way” as the water pump removal needs the removal of the timing belt first. The prices for both if them are for the parts and the labor. What do you think is enough to do? I need your kind opinion please. If I were close to you I would prefer bringing the cat to you but I am in Albuquerque, NM. Thank you again.

I have same car the only problem I have is the squeaking when you turn it got away by adjusting the power steering pump I would change timing belt water pump if car is leaking and the belts but idk how many miles you have

The mileage says 167k mile but it may not be true because the speedometer stops and it works just in the morning when I start driving the car. It stops after less than 15 minutes. I am not sure if that has any relation to the noise which looks like the noise from a “2nd World war plane” which slightly increase as I turn the steering wheel to passenger side and becomes less when I turn the steering wheel to the driver’s side.

My car has the same problem as this with the speedometer. Also I'm doing the water pump and timing belt myself.

What is that pin tool you are using to hold the tensioner? Also how did you get those 2 seals out that you replaced and were they a pain?

? the belt broke sounds like rock , do I need a Eng , I found a donor Motor for 500 but can I get away with fixing Replacing the heads if the Pistons are good

Not really sure of your situation but I will try to assist.If belt breaks on an interference engine during rotation{running/driving) there is a great chance several or more valves will slightly touch some of the pistons,causing valves to bend.Install new belt,have timing marks set correctly.Use compression meter,autozone,advance etc rent it for free and spin motor.If compression checks good on all cylinders,your one of the lucky few.If valves are bent,remove them and replace.They are cheap,around 6 bucks each. It takes some time,however your engine is may not need to be replaced.any questions feel free to ask.I hope Im not stepping on the posters toes,just trying to a community memeber to help pass trial and error knowlege and wisdom

If you had the strength of a meat eater it would not be a chore at all. Rather its therapeutic like doing a puzzle and upper body workout at the same time.

Good mechanic, poor videographer. Important contribution rendered mediocre by incompetent video work......sad.
