Nice little video you have detailing the history of the world's largest passenger ships. It also seems you got the distinction between an ocean liner and a cruise ship correct, which is an added plus. My favorite ship on this list and of all time is without question Titanic. :)

You can't just skip all of the 2nd biggest ships after the Great Eastern! Seriously, that barely sailable hunk of metal was the biggest "ship" for 30 years and much of the technological progress going on with the 2nd biggest ships are overshadowed by it. The first Oceanic class, the Umbria and Lucania, the first Britannic and her sister were amazing ships, but they weren't the biggest ship only because of the Great Eastern, the would-be billboard on a beach.

Not only was the SS Great Eastern well sailable, or rather paddlewheeled with steam, but it served as a 46 cannon frigate in 1861 when its superstructure and decks were fitted with cannons with the traditional british multi level two tone applied to it as well. It was not a hunk of metal you fein.

The original dimensions of Britannic were similar to those of her older sisters, but her dimensions were altered whilst still on the building stocks after the loss of Titanic. With a gross tonnage of 48,158, she surpassed her older sisters in terms of internal volume, but that did not make her the largest passenger ship in service at that time; the German SS Vaterland held this title with a significantly higher tonnage.

You are a dummy. The time you see there is how long she was the biggest ship, not how long she was in service.
