I'm 73 & I've only worn Classic Pieces my whole Life! My Mother did too! For me it all makes my Life so much more Simple to just stay Classic & not Trendy! If I want to change the Look somewhat I use Colorful Silk Scarves! Timeless!

Since I started following you some time ago, I have completely restructured my entire wardrobe to a more timeless style, and I’ve never looked back. And, yes, I love a detail - even if I’m the only one that knows it’s there.

I love Everything except the pumps. Unless the pump has an edgy detail which freshens its look becomes "dated"or "old lady"...even when pumps were trending.

I’m wearing the equestrian print dress today. I love it, especially the A-line shape, most shirt dresses are cut straight all the way down, this one is far superior and it has a lot of silk fabric in it (most brands really skimp on fabric quantity and cut in their silk items because of its high cost). Because it’s cold I’m wearing a silk turtleneck underneath it, and a silk slip.

Yes. These are the choice's l would also make. I will spend a little bit more on a long sleeve t shirt then some, only because l know how often l pull it out of my closet to wear. For me, a white silk button up is a piece that l never go without,even on vacation. Thank you for this video. Your selections are absolutely perfect for a wardrobe restart, or , current additions. The emphasis on quality and timeless style is something I wish I had focused on when I was 20 years old. Although, I do have a beautiful collection of vintage suits from the 40's and 50's that are exquisite and I can still wear them to this day because of the beautiful materials and high quality workmanship. (I found them in my 20's and I am in my late 50's now). Thank you again for your videos and postings.

I, too, wish I had had bought classics early on...but in my case I wasn't aware of what were considered classics or classic basics to start with, so that I could still have and wear them today. Oh my gosh, when I think of the 90s and how huge the shoulders (and shoulder pads were) in tops and jackets...none of them were wearable later because they were ridiculously oversized. I just didn't know any better and had to learn the hard way. Oh my gosh, I envy you your intelligence to know enough to collect vintage suits from the 40s and 50s at such a young age. If there's others watching who like me, can't or don't wear white (deep autumn tone) pick a neutral that looks fabulous & substitute. For me I use medium grey & warm camel beiges or even black. White just doesn't look good on all of us but these videos are still very helpful ♥️

I think pearls are also a classic essential. Yours are lovely! I have a 18” strand of graduated cultured pearls from my Gram and several strands of fresh water pearls in a variety of pearl sizes and lengths. While classic round cultured or natural pearls are more costly, I love fresh water pearls because there is no question that they are real. The added bonus of being more affordable makes it possible to gift them on significant occasions from quinceañeras & graduations to weddings. An instant heirloom.

I am a huge fan of Lilysilk. That’s where I get all my silk tops and my silk pillowcases. I got 2 cashmere sweaters from Lilysilk, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The price point is affordable for their silks versus a retail establishment or a brand name, and the quality is great. These are very nice choices for a classic wardrobe. The pieces are interchangeable, and they’ll never go out of style, so it’ll work out to be a great cost-per-wear. P.S. I have the blouse in the equestrian print, and I get so many complements on that blouse.

Hi Janis, i have to say, we have so many similarities, choosing our wardrobe palette. I am going to travel soon , and as much as I like nave blue, it is difficult to match and mix, when you have black pumps or sling backs, black cap shoes, navy tends to interrupt your outfit possibilities, unless you wear it strictly with nice sneakers and other accessories, keeping the blue in place. On the other hand beige, ivory, white , even blush pink, goes so easy and elegant with black and scarves for a pop of color. Of course, withe a nice top handle black bag. I am enjoying my minimalist style, with my long time and timeless bags shoes and bags. No wonder, you are known in this community as a classic and classy elegant lady! What a great choice of classics. That is pretty much exactly what I have in my wardrobe. Thank you for the Lilysilk intro which I will definitely look at. The only item I'd swap out would be the fun item, the faux fur gilet. It looks great on you, I'd go with something that would suit my different silhouette. This is the first video I've watched of yours, and I like the way you precisely explain why a particular shape is classic and versatile. Apart from silk, cotton and cashmere, the other fibre and weave I like is wool crepe. It is matt and drapey, and takes dye really well, so it's suited to both day and evening wear.

Well, this turned out perfect timing for me. I'm going back to work at 74 in a hospital setting and they said BUSINESS CASUAL 😅😅😅I'm retired and with covid I don't have anything nice anymore. So this was great thank you.😊

You look very sophisticated in your understated outfits! The colours work very well with your hair and makeup. The colours, styles and fabrics are almost exactly what I was wearing in my twenties, when working in elegant surroundings. Since then I have moved out of the capital city into the countryside and lived with a succession of large dogs and cats. Alas, no more black and white for me; pet hairs show on black and mud shows on white... Now I live in medium neutrals with brown leather accessories and very practical footwear. I miss looking elegant sometimes, but could never go back to the high maintenance required to keep black and white clothes in very fine fabrics in pristine condition. Kudos to the ladies who keep up appearences!

Sadly my arthritic knees do not do heeled shoes these days, but I do love my loafers and ballet pumps. I alway buy good shoes which last and wear well. I have pairs that are over 20 years old and with the care I have given them they are still very presentable.

Finally purchased Lily Silk pillowcases at Christmas ,gifted one to my mom . They’re packaged nicely and quality seems good.

I was hoping you would pair the silk pants, the cashmere sweater and the faux fur vest--for something edgy [add some motorcycle boots, and there ya go! ] Very elegant selections that I could see adapting to my own somewhat unorthodox style--being 62 and still not yet ready to surrender to that fact. I've discovered yr channel recently; yr style is exactly what I always love, but one thing I'd like to mention; women 60+ prefer mostly comfortable shoes, which don't always look very smart or they don't fit with those type of clothes, also the flat shoes aren't always comfortable, as they seem to.
