Dear Lad, you are an amazing carpenter. I am 98 yrs old and My Greatfather used to build cabins for a place called Apple Island and the cabins were different sizes. And they would use only what they had and from the local tress etc.. How did you get electric there? To heat your cabin? You are such a wonderful carpenter. Your Mum and Pop must be so proud of you . God Bless and be safe Lad.

Yes, he seemed to do much of the work by hand but, at some point he is using electric. He also has a propane stove, I see. There are some great rechargeable battery packs available and at the end he installed solar. My question would be: Where is the toilet?

I enjoyed it immensely too. I personally haven't seen that work ethic in the young people in my area. It's kind of sad and it's not that their folks aren't hard working, they just don't seem to be motivated or curious about how to use the tools. I don't know what it is. Maybe they're just not hungry enough.

@@CIST3 You do have to ponder just what motivates some to be this ambitious and others to exclaim, 'There's nothing to do in this burg' when there is a great big land of opportunity lying at their feet. If only someone would give 'em the nudge, and a little guidance and a heap of confidence. The youth in my cross roads to everywhere in the middle of nowhere town are too oft' heard to complain about the lack of things to do, but they sit for hours gaming in their respective rooms alone, virtually in a fantasy world with peeps unkown. Vey possible that his job had nothing to do with carpentry. If he was an accountant, I doubt they would care that he was gifted carpenter. They would likely want someone with math skills. And people aren't generally laid off because of performance issues but because of financial issues with the company. I knew plenty of hard working, skilled people who got laid off during the pandemic. Many businesses were completely shut down for months, some never reopened.

WOW!, what a job. This Is exactly what Mike Rowe is talking about, Learn a trade at school! My dad went to high school and the following Monday started a 2 year trade school learning wood working, some metal work and electrical. He was working night jobs at a factory that made everything from picture frames to wooden delivery crates for milk and soda bottles. When the great depression hit, college grads couldn't find work but he was working 60 hours a week! Later on he served our country working as a airplane mechanic in the army air corp's in Harrisburg PA.! Although he found a new career in white collar office work do to health reason, my father never ceased to amaze me when my mom had a vision of some furniture or decorative item and my Dad was able to design & build it for her beyond her expectations! She was always so proud of his abilities. And I'm so thankful he taught me well. That young man in this video should inspire people to learn to work with their hands. What he didn't say is that there are jobs in America that only disposable undocumented desperate people will do. There's no job that Americans won't do if the pay and conditions are right. It's called supply and demand. If a job needs to be done, Americans will do the job. The free market will dictate pay as long as literal slaves are kept out of the labor supply. My question is HOW some people get the skills they need and able to construct something like this. Even pros seem to differ on SOME building skills and application - so which do you learn or use. As the commenter above me said, our devices ARE listening to us. There is literal proof available, as well as countless incidents of anecdotal evidence. Just this morning I was talking to someone about getting rid of ants where I work, and as soon as I hopped on my laptop, I was getting ads about “next day any removal”! I could go on and on about it, but just know that you aren’t imagining it-our devices are always listening.

You can get an eco toilet that seperates urine and feces. That way it doesn´t stink. Or just have one of those bucket-ones and empty it in the forrest. Usually in a tiny house you have a nice spot that likes your waste and can even give you back food for it. We are just so used to plumbing that we sometimes forget it´s only the best way in a city.
