Time travelling back to the Middle Ages in France • FRANCE 24 English
In this special history episode of French Connections Plus, we turn the spotlight on what has come to be seen as a dark period: the Middle Ages. What is known as “le Moyen Age” in French covered some 1,000 years, centuries of political upheaval, royal intrigue, wars, disease and famine. But it was also a rich period of artistic and intellectual development when in many ways France took on the shape it has today. So what’s left of this complex chapter of French History? Join Florence Villeminot and Genie Godula as they time travel back to “le Moyen Age”.

I wish France was a Monarch today. Its such a shame its not anymore. 👑
This is amazing history on dark ages. I love Ancient Roman-Greek civilization too, from which, the west has inherited the Latin alphabet and civil law, idea of government democracy, classical philosophy.
Please do a video about the Enlightenment period. It is one of the most important periods that totally reshaped France and the world as a whole.
On the topic of creativity in the Middle Ages, I was reminded of a documentary of some years ago about the origin of French cuisine as we know it today. Due to the aristocracy demanding and getting only the best of all food the farmers and nature could deliver, the general public was mostly left with scraps and offal to make a nourishing meal. Thus, the cooks and mothers, of course, had to be very inventive and came up with astounding recipes that were far more delicious than a grilled slab of meat. Just think of pot-au-feu and boullabaisse, for example, and you get the idea.
Well done! I would love an episode on the French Revolution.
What is described as the middle ages fits very well with the modern reality.
Thought the construction of Tour Montparnasse was the start of the really Dark Ages?! 😅

How can it be the dark ages if you are evading the one subject that gave rise to the chaos in Europe, that shaped the current Eurocentric world that we live in today...
