3D Design Process - www.backyardlivingguyde.com/3...
Hi guys, here we have a beautiful transformation start to finish. Take a look at the before and after shots of this project before design & construction. Enjoy the beautiful transformation.
We start with some highlights of the project. First, the covered structure. This is an unusual structure as we built it with the homes ‘architecture in mind. We have a beautiful seat wall with a planter right behind it and a fire pit & hot tub destination - so much in this project.
We also added an outdoor fireplace, beautiful patio and because of the elevation change, we added a seat wall surrounding the outskirts of the living area. Then came a beautiful waterfall feature that is caught in the sightlines of the back windows of the house. That makes a good design, being able to pull you outside due to those windows - out to the many destinations in this outdoor living space.
Hardscapes take it away - hardscapes are the paved areas, driveways, retaining walls, boulder transitions, stairways, & walkways.
Micah said there are numerous elevation changes here - time for stairs, pavers, boulders as retaining walls - See how our expert crews finagle the terrain and recreate functional walking surfaces with pathways, seat walls, patios, and stair-steps to all destinations.
With a sloped yard - think Waterfall feature when designing your space. As Micah brought out, this one can be seen from all windows as it trickles downhill - attracting nature’s wildlife. It quickly became the man-of-the-house’ - favorite destination. Notice the crew get started with help from Micah, the Outdoor Living Guy. Waterfall complete and recycling water - hardscape areas finished - we move on to the next phase - the covered structure and fireplace. Watch the wood working and paver crew get the job done.
Another thing that we love about this project is the golf green. We have an area for chipping, different fringe elevations and then we have a three-hole putt area . . . all nice to work on your short game.
When it comes to landscape design, why not, "Put a Putting-Green in It?" Landscapes are very individual these days. They give your family options on where to relax and where to entertain. You can use it to practice your short game or have mini competitions with friends and family. The greens look well maintained during all weather conditions and are just plain old fun for all ages!
The mini-golf-green partners with the trampoline in the back and there are trees all around this property giving strength and character along with the relax and live-life feel.
Let’s get this party started! Our Happy Homeowners knew that their neighbors were curious as to all the construction in their backyard al - so once completed, they invited them over for a neighborhood Outdoor Housewarming Party.
Micah: With a job like this, I want to make sure that you understand you just can't throw this together - you need to take the time to have a design, like we did here. There is no way you could do this project without a design as it would have had many mistakes.
I want to encourage you to get a well thought through outdoor living design. If you can do it in 3D that is even better. If you don't have a local designer that you know, or if you can't find a local outdoor living design firm, we can help you with that.
So, think 3D design before you start building and we'd be happy to help you if you need it. Beautiful transformation, I hope you enjoyed it. I love the cover structure. Love the fireplace. Love that you joined us . . .

Maybe. Although I did it the opposite. I worked from the outside to the inside. The outside just opened up so much for the lives of my kids and our friends. Kinda your decision

Have you ever done an outside room where the floors were heated and, if so, is it super expensive? I’ve seen a lot of people heat concrete garage floors so I am guessing it’s possible. Would love to know. Thanks so much!! 🏘

For the homeowner’s sake, I sure hope you replaced the perimeter drains/storm water drains before covering them with all that expensive hardscape!!! It will cost $30,000 to replace them now if they collapse or get plugged.
