Oh dear Bishop, how wise and insightful you are! How I wish you were around when I was in my teens, 20's and 30's doing all the wrong things because they satisfied ME. Oh yes, those activities and events were fun at the time and I do remember them fondly - - but with the knowledge now that I was not searching for God, but satisfying my own ego. And now in my late 70's, I am so very happy that I have found God and can work towards my recommitment to His words of love and truth and simple obedience.

Bishop Barron brought me back to the Church. I listen to him daily. I wouldn't be back without him and Fr. Mike. I have a whole notebook on His Excellency's sermons. It makes me feel good to know he is one of our modern-day apostles. He does a great job. He's such a brilliant man. I'd love to have 1/10 of his mental capability, but I'm learning from him at least.

I've listened to it 3 times and each time your message has brought me more and more understanding of something I've been wondering and searching for an answer. Once again, it was an amazingly uplifting and encouraging sermon. It is so true that God has a small number of things He prohibits for us, but gives us the great permission of so much we can do, enabled more fully by following those few no's.

to hear these truths of thei teachings of the bible is a gift & blessings, thank you

Love this. My mind can now look at each of the ten commandments and see not just the prohibitions but also the permissions that each commandment brings us. Have no gods before Him. Having Him as our only God brings us grace, justice, joy, peace .... Come Holy Spirit. 🙏

Yes I liked it had never thought about the many permissions yet have fallen to prohibitions and as I have heard by other about the song I did it my way well every time I did it the wrong way somehow my so Holy so merciful Holy Spirit has seemed forgiven me and always got me happy endings, so yes with the help of by forever by my side the Holy Spirit being my constant companion my way with by his help my way I pray be along with my constant companion that keeps getting me out of my faulty mess ups , constantly ask my so merciful most Holy Spirit left with each one of us by our most holy Jesus , to please never give up on me ,that I want with all my heart soul spirit for my way to be his way Amen .

Thank you, again, Bishop Barron. A NYT columnist wrote today how Thomas Jefferson predicted a secular society in less than a generation. And how every few generations, a surge in religious embrace has risen up to thwart such a secular onslaught. Perhaps we are on the cusp of such a surge. If so, your Sunday sermons may well be the springboard. IMHO. You not only speak to those of us without power, but to those with big egos and much power. Your words seem to draw the ears of all -- whatever their station, wherever they may reside. Bless you.

When i look objectively at the 10 commandments I see a road map for happy harmonious living both as an individual and societally, with God as the head

Thank you for this centering message on the basics of the gospel message. this is not only sound theology but also very sound psychology put in a theological frame of reference. the point is, we all live by a criterion around which we organize our life, the question is, what is my criterion by which I am living my life. when we are faced with things in our life that bring us to the end of our rope, that we do not have control over is the moment we are confronted with the criterion we have chosen to organize our life around. Typically it takes such an event to bring this awareness to the for front of our consciousness, but when it does we have the opportunity to put the criterion of our life into perspective and answer the serpent once again, not as adam and eve did, but as Jesus did in his temptation with God as the criterion of good and evil.

Thank you so much Father, for the sacrifices and 'permitted Goods' you have offered up in order to serve us all. For your life of prayer and offering so we may be fed. Thank you! I learn so much from listening and re-listening to your sermons. You are clear, good and succinct. Thank you! God bless you abundantly!

To me, you are the best orator and bible explanator I have ever encountered in my life. Many thanks for these words that bring light over the darkness. These words are captivating: There is one great permission (access to all good things) and one great prohibition: do not make yourself the criterion for good and evil. Always watch what is your relationship to these 3: pleasure, honor and power. Always submit yourself to God and put the rest in relation to God.
