Time Piece

Ойын-сауық

I filmed a few sections of my poem “Time Piece” at the beginning of chemo. It was one of a number of pieces in ‘You Better Be Lightning’ that haunted me when I was first diagnosed, but that I later found a great deal of comfort in. There are a million miles of distance between what I knew when I wrote this poem, and what I knew when I started needing it in real life, but I’m so thankful for the me who put these words to page. The squeaking that can be heard sporadically throughout the video are prairie dogs. I wish I’d filmed them because they are the cutest little munchkins, and as it had been a while since I’d performed for a live audience-their enthusiasm was very encouraging. Time is precious, y’all. Today I noticed my hair really truly beginning to grow back, and I am so grateful for every single day we are here on this earth together. [Instrumental music by Sharkk Heartt ]

You saved my life. You may not ever know but, you really did. I placed my daughter for adoption at 14 years old and then proceeded to try and end it all for myself I spent months in a hospital and came out and your poem "maybe I need you" was in my for you suggestions. It had different meaning to me then, than why you might have written it. But it kept me off of the edge for long enough to hold on. Your poem "your life" helped my partner find who they really are. I just want to say thank you and I love you so much.

Andrea, you always make me cry. I'm told it's empathy, but sometimes it's a sad cry, sometimes it's a happy cry, and sometimes the beauty is just overwhelming. This is one of the overwhelming ones.

I come back to “Blue Blanket” around this time every year, for reasons I don’t think I have to explain. Seeing you’ve crafted and published something new definitely made my night.

Your poetry acompany me since a few years now. Brings me smiles when i'm up. And tears when i'm down. Your poetry is a key to emotions' cell for people who keep them locked up inside. Thank you Andrea. Greetings from France.

Dear, dear Andrea, your interview with your Lyme specialist was my introduction to you (I cried the whole way through that interview. Hopefully, I can find the strength and focus to contact him in hopes that he will be able to take me in as one of his patients). Who would have thought a Chronic Lyme video would lead to discovering something as wonderful as your poetry. Art is awesome, indeed. ❤️

My heart does that thing it does when the hurt is so real it feels heavy in your chest when I heard you say, “how many days did we need each other without knowing?” When I left my ex wife because she cheated on me we never had a last goodbye or talk. So I’ve always wondered this and you put it into words. Those words fit so perfectly to my truth that it physically hit my chest. I’m thankful for that. Maybe I’ll schedule that last talk.
