So i was thinking about Leopards for Sweden in Team Yankee. Sweden was developing the Strv2000, but the project was canceled in 1989. In 1993 the Swedes started evaluating the M1A2, Leopard 2A4, Leclerc and T-80 (the later one performed very poorly, so it wasn't part of the whole testing iirc). The Leopard was selected and 160 were leased in 1994 and put into service under the name Strv121. The Strv122 meanwhile, is more what the Leopard 2A5 could have been, without the budget cuts at the end of the cold war. After Germany tested the Leopard2A5 prototype "TVM" the prototype was sent to Sweden. While the Germans cut many of the protective features, the Swedes pretty much kept all of them. Germany later included most of those features in late versions of the Leopard 2A6. (so argueably the German Leopard 2A5 would have entered service with those features) So some thinge we have to consider in the Team Yankee Timeline: 1. Would Sweden have continued the Strv2000 with the cold war not ending in the early 90s? Subjectively this would be most likely, we have other "fictional" vehicles. 2. Would Germany have sold 2A4s during a War ? All of the Swedish A4s were ex Bundeswehr models, so with the cold war not ending, i dont really think Sweden would have gotten any. On the other hand, it is possible, that Sweden could co-produce new 2A4s or 2A5s.

As one of the guys who helped out on the Danish in this book. I did make BF aware of the PNMK M/92 (M113 fire support vehicle with a 20mm cannon), the Upgraded Bulldog, F-16s and Drakens. But for various reasons they didnt go for it. And they weren't an afterthought but they just historically was quite cookie cutter.

Thats really sad to hear that they ignored your sugestions :( I have some custom made PNMK M/92' I had really hoped to use. But I guess they will be standin Marders, even though they didnt carry troops. Also, I use Revell F-16's as standins for the Tornado :)

the S-103 didn't have the L7, it had a longer barrel Swedish gun, not sure if that accounts for the difference or not

Correct, I think I called it a long-barrelled L7 which is vastly oversimplifying it but serves as a term for the layman.

I did some reading on the Bofors 105 mm L74 8with a barrel length of 62 Calibers). The muzzle velocity is around 10% higher muzzle velocities thanthe L7 L/52 105mm. Sweden decided to use or at least be able to use standard NATO ammunition, so in case of an invasion, they could tap into their resources. One could argue, that the penetration of 21 is a mix of the increased velocity and an assumed higher accuracy of the gun (hitting weak spots), but overallI very much agree that the rules on the Str103 seem weird. Sidenote: The Finns used Belgian ammunition for their Soviet Tanks (i think it was MECAR, which is part of KNDS now).

Selling the S Tank 'lifted' tracks separately seems like a bit of a dick move by BF. Way too much resin and metal kits for me to have much interest in getting any of these armies. I'm waiting for the new Nato book later this year.

Yeah, I'm curious why they just aren't on the sprue. I think Swedes are the only ones that really suffer for resin, what with their APC being a resin kit. Finland reuses the plastic T-tanks, BTR and BMP whilst the Norwegians (albeit with resin upgrades) and Danes are mostly reuse the existing NATO kit.

@@breakthroughassault4791 Regarding the "missing" tracks for the S-tank: I honestly will not miss them, i wouldn't build any S-Tank with the suspension pointing "down" anyway. Sure the cost of the spruet would haven't been that much higher with 2 extra track pieces, but the tanks would look incredibly out of place in any other position. If i would use those tracks, i would need an entire new set of S-tanks, to switch them around and that would be an insane investment (subjectively). Regarding the swedish "resin" issue. The downside of a minor nation, that had no foreign users. I don't know , if the French were that much more popular, but at least there were some foreign users, that used their tanks and IFV. The Swedes surely did not think of wargamers, when they used different hulls for their APC and their AT/AA vehicles.
