I’m from Houston area and had no idea this was done to prevent future flooding. But I have seen a few houses in certain areas that look higher and have high front door compared to other houses around them. Now I know what they had done. Amazing work but I think I’d have to just move because I imagine this costs about as much as half the value of the house.

It turned out nice. The block work looked tight in the end... but... how can you lay block on dirt and pour concrete around it and the weight not push the column of the block straight through the pour?

Wondering what the slump is for the footing concrete was and I am not understanding why the space between the top of block and the existing perimeter grade beam was not dry packed with mortar so the new wall would pick up the load of the house rather than the piers that were put it during the process.

At least 100k for a 1 story ranch if not almost 200k. I'm guessing...

With flood mitigation, do you have any examples of foundations where flood waters flow through the underside of the house? I'm sorry if I'm not asking the question right, not too sure on the technical terminology. Thanks!

As much or more than the value of your home. For that price its better to relocate to higher ground than to owe $200k on a home and another $100k to raise it.

The cost to elevate can be less than the cost to repair and replace after multiple flood events. With the help of FEMA and SRL grants it is even more approachable. There are also payment plans to help.
