Time-Lapse Interval- What You Need to Know

Download my business coaching class today! bit.ly/1nKfmIM
Hi, this is Jay P. Morgan. Today on The Slanted Lens we're talking about time-lapse interval. Interval in time-lapse influences movement. We're out on location shooting clouds. We'll look at different intervals, plus we'll compare intervals to footage that's been sped up. Keep those cameras rollin' and keep on clickin'.

    Thanks for the video! I recently did a timelapse of people moving around for my school, using my a6300. It was a special event and I wasn’t going to be with the camera. They had no idea how long it could take, 20 mins to 2 hours. So I set a 3 second interval, that way the timelapse would run for 50 mins. It ended up taking 30 mins, but I am happy that I went with the safe option as the result was pretty nice!

    Hi JP, Great video! Thank so much! you said that you if you shoot on a 2 sec interval and then want to change to 4 sec or 8 sec you can choose only odd numbers or choose only half of the images on Bridge, can you please specify how to do that, is there an automatic way to choose that or you need to do it manually? Thanks!!!

    Good video! With clouds, you say shutter speed doesn't really matter that much. Can you think of any examples where having motion blur in clouds *is* useful?

  • @TheSlantedLens

    @TheSlantedLens

    6 жыл бұрын

    motion blur is good to have more smooth motion between frames so when you play it back, you can see how the clouds, people, ect change over time. it's just a style choice.

    Is there a reason you would chose to delete frames from a 8 second tl vs. just speeding up or slowing the footage up in premiere?

  • @TheSlantedLens

    @TheSlantedLens

    8 жыл бұрын

    It should look the same either way you do it, but removing those frames would make the image sequence in Premiere smaller, which means less render time. Also, if you are processing the RAW images, you would create less data for yourself if you only process half the images. Probably six of one and half dozen of the other.

  • @TheSlantedLens

    What about shutter if the shutter speed is 30sec what is the interval plzzz tell me

  • @TheSlantedLens

    @TheSlantedLens

    The shutter speed has to be shorter than the interval. As long as it is longer than the interval it will work with a proper exposure for the scene.

    The Syrp Genie Mini is a motion control device and Intervalometer as well. It runs about $249 dollars. If that is out of your budget there are 60 dollar devices at B&H that just trigger your camera. Good Luck!
