Continuing with the time lapse photography series, we've looked at how to setup Canon's cameras, now it's time to look at some hardware to help turn your boring time lapse into an interesting hyper lapse. This time we'll look at some tips for how to setup, and integrate Edelkrone's SliderPLUS series of motion control sliders with your camera (though focus is on Canon's R5 and R5C specifically).

Great video! Two questions: is there a way to create a timelapse with three or more keyframes? Also, can you enter play time and the interval and have it calculate the record time?

Re keyframes. No, at least not using Edelkrone app on a phone/tablet. I think you can do more with the USB interface, especially if you wrote your own controller to run on top of it, but I don't have one so I'm not sure what the capabilities of provided web interface is. As for entering a play time and interval to get the record time. No, I don't think that works. At least, if I've been able to do it I can't remember how I did it. Changing the interval or play time, just changes the other.
I’ve got a question if you’ve run into this. I was out last night with my slider plus and head plus both moving between two key poses. I set the app with a 15” interval and my camera’s shutter speed was 10”. It appeared the head plus would do its move between shots immediately after the 10” exposure was done but then the slider seemed to move right when the next exposure was triggered. I had the camera plugged into the head plus for reference. Do you know if there is a way to have the slider finish its move before the head plus triggers the next shot? I thought since everything was synced in the app, this wouldn’t happen.

Just out of curiosity, is your camera set to do long exposure noise reduction? On Canon and Nikon cameras, this is just dark frame subtraction, and it little more than doubles the exposure time for every shot (e.g. 10" with the shutter open, 10" with the shutter close for the dark frame). If that's enabled, then you'll either need to extend the slide interval or turn off the long exposure NR. Beyond that, the only think you can do is extend the slide interval to insure there's enough time between shots. Unfortunately, this is one of those places where it would be really nice if the cameras and external devices could actually talk to each other intelligently. As things stand, the slider can't know if the camera is done or not, and so it just moves and simulates pressing the shutter release, and just hopes for the best.
