TimberKing Sawmill REVIEW!!! (TK 1600 2 year review)

2 year review of the TimberKing 1600. Similar to the newer TimberKing 1620, the TimberKing 1600 is packed with features and capabilities. I have sat down and created a 2 year review based on my sawing experiences with the machine. Hope you enjoy!

Great and honest review. I’ve had 1600 since 2013 full time. good gas is the secret to the engine. Just did first carb change May 2023. Had LT 40 years ago. TimberKing is a better mill by far. Your not- picking is on point, your still learning. My advice is just cut and learn. Good review.

I also have the TK1600, I have done some talking with Matt at TK and the log pin can be upgraded to hydraulic up and down using the TK 2000 set up but will have to modify it to fit your bed, in the mean time I also found a quicker way to loosen and tighten the bolt that holds the up and down on the pin found on amazon.. Steel Size 3 3/8-16 X .98 Adjustable Handle

A lawn mowing business buddy of mine told me to stay away from Kohler motors when buying my SCAG mower. Another buddy of mine with a Woodmizer mill had his kohler go out and replaced it with a Harbor Freight Predator motor having nother but good results.

Knock on wood, but I've had my 1600 for over 3 years, 400 hours, and the kohler engine has run like a champ. Just had my first bearing go in a guide roller, and the double cog drive belt is missing some cogs due to blade breaks. Only other thing that's gone wrong is the sprocket on one side that rides the chain jumped a few links, had to disconnect the chain and adjust so carriage rode square again. Not a big fan of the log stop design, hard to keep square, but other than that have been happy with the machine.

You talk about mechanically inclined I have owned a woodmizer LT28 for 6 years the only thing I have ever done to this meal is change the oil and replace blades and one pulley not one single bolt has came loose or anything on this meal not putting down timber king or any other meal just saying It might be good quality but poorly put together I never had to do anything to my mill except for routine maintenance oil and blades

Great review bud. I've ran my own tree service for 33 years and am thinking about buying a timberking 1620. After owning one now would you recommend the 25 hp kubota motor? I'm a little worried about $45,000. I get nice logs on a weekly basis but it's alot of money. I do want to fade out the everyday heavy tree service and just cut lumber. The stationary 58 inch cut timberking is $35,000 but I like the idea of the hydraulics on the 1620. Hopefully with the logs I get it'll work out. Don't know if the kubota is worth the extra $8,000 on the 1620. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Rusty, for me it wasn’t then and isn’t now worth the extra money for the diesel. For some, that may not be the case but for me, not worth that much money. I have no issues with my gas burner’s performance. Good luck with your decision!

Was thinking about purchasing a used 1600 It’s a 2012 model And I’m really concerned about the age of the machine

Mike, I wouldn’t worry too much about the age. If the condition of the machine is good, they are hard to find used right now. If the price is right and you are able to work on small engines and have a general understanding of hydraulics, I would snatch it up. The alternative is new and the wait times in Summer 2022 are insane.

I heard Kohler had some issues with one of their 27 HP engines. Not sure which one. I have had my Timberking for about ten years now and it is about ready for a new motor. Could you tell me what model number motor you have on that mill? Good honest review.

Wow, it looks like they tucked the drive belts up since my 1600 was made. That allow for much greater cutting clearance. The Kohler's are junk. I'm on my second one and almost lost the second, too.

The engine problem and carb problem is due to old gas these motors are very picky on fuel octane and will bend push rods
