To work out length calculate the circumference of the circle at the inside edges of the base plate notches. then this is the approximate length of the side piece excluding the extra notch on the end. To visualise this there is a diagram on my web page for the plans. mwlaser.com.au/product/round-box-cut-plans/ (3rd image) The red lines on the image are the circumference and length I am trying to explain here. :) Cheers Matt

Matt, my lightburn is missing the layer colors at the bottom, any ideas?

trial and error for different materials, I start with about 1mm between slits and if too flexible then increase by 0.5mm at at time.

Off topic, G'day Matt, A friend recommended I use lightburn software, at this point i in time I use Corel draw to make model trains, I import a Plan scale it to size and trace out what I want in layers, Can I do the same thing with Lightburn . Australia PS, I have a Redsail 1290 130 Watts

yes, you can trace in LightBurn and then ungroup your trace to set different layers to the various parts. Try it out LightBurn has a free trial download for 30 days

Could you tell me what brand laser you have and is it a good one. I plan to buy one this week.

My laser is a Chinese Clone x700 Black&Red. There is no brand. The laser tube is a KH Laser. It came with a Top Wisdom controller and AutoLaser software which I found lacked the control and features I wanted. The machine works very well I haven't had any problems. I recommend purchasing one with a RUIDA controller, if you can otherwise you can upgrade the controller easily if needed as I have done already. (See video on upgrade) I also recommend looking for a machine with a RECI / Cloudray laser tube if possible. I'm happy with my machine but have been tweaking and upgrading components as I go. Still more affordable than some brand name machines. Cheers Matt

Hi Nice idea to show how to build under lightburn, but a step by step process would be helpful, you know how to proceed by heart but it is quite tricky to repeat what you are doing Kind regards
