Tim Wright Fine Violins: Giovanni Francesco Pressenda, 1843

Today we take a look at this stunning Pressenda violin, made in Turin in 1843. Considered the father of the modern Turin school, Pressenda likely trained in the French workshops of that city from around 1815.
This violin has all the hallmarks of Pressenda's mature style, most notably his unique combination of both Stradivari and del Gesù influences. Tonally, it's big yet sophisticated: a fantastic solo instrument!
